Aşık Veysel was a renowned Turkish minstrel and poet born in 1894 in Sivas province. He was blind for most of his life but was a virtuoso of the bağlama and a prominent representative of Anatolian ashik tradition in the 20th century. In his lyrics, Veysel addressed a wide range of themes including love, values, beliefs, and his perspective on the world as a blind man through the use of folk literature.
