- The document discusses Jesus talking about two births - a physical birth and a spiritual birth.
- The physical birth is being born into the world from one's mother. The spiritual birth is being "born again" or "born from above" through faith in Jesus.
- It says Jesus was telling Nicodemus that everyone needs both a physical birth and a spiritual rebirth by faith in order to enter heaven, not referring to water baptism.
After healing the paralyzed man, Jesus answers the Jews’ charge that he was claiming to be equal with God. He teaches them that he is equal in power, judgment, and honor. Then he focus’ on the marvel of eternal life and the judgment. He concludes by reminding them that he has witness that verify who he is: John, His Works, His Father, Scripture, and Moses.

This document discusses overcoming a "crisis of belief" through faith in God. It recommends 7 steps: 1) Resolve to live by faith, not sight. 2) Refuse lies and doubts through God's word. 3) Recite faith-building scriptures. 4) Review God's past miracles. 5) Read biographies of faithful people. 6) Worship through praise songs. 7) Seek prayer and counsel from mentors. The overall message is that decisive action through faith can overcome times of spiritual doubt.

This document contains excerpts from the Bible and writings of Ellen White discussing Romans chapter 5. It summarizes that Romans 5:1 begins with "therefore" to link what comes next to the justification explained in preceding chapters. Being justified by faith means being made righteous and in line with God's law through Jesus. This brings peace with God, which can only be found in Christ. It discusses how faith is trusting in God's word to accomplish what it says. Jesus is the living word of God. Being at peace with God through faith in Christ brings access to God's grace, and causes rejoicing even in tribulations, as tribulations produce patience.

The document provides information about The New Revelation, a collection of spiritual writings received by Jakob Lorber and Gottfried Mayerhofer between 1840 and 1879. It is described as the greatest personal testimony of God, who is said to have spoken directly through these men. The New Revelation contains teachings from Jesus Christ and insights into life, God, and the path to salvation. It aims to guide readers to eternal life.

Jesus comforted his disciples because (1) he was leaving them and they couldn't follow, (2) one would betray him, and (3) he predicted Peter's denial. He told them not to worry because he was preparing a place for them in heaven and would return to bring them there. Jesus proclaimed that he is the way, the truth, and the life - the only way to get to heaven and have eternal life with God.

The document discusses the importance of glorifying God. It references Jesus' prayer in John 17:1-5 where he asks God to glorify him so that he can glorify God. It states that eternal life is knowing God and Jesus, and seeing Jesus as glorious is important for having eternal life. The document also discusses how salvation is impossible through human effort alone, but possible through God, referencing the conversion of atheist John Wright. It concludes by saying that all circumstances, including tragic ones, only make sense when viewed as meant to glorify God.
Jesus Christ is the source and giver of all life. He created all things and upholds all creation. In Him was life originally and He is the author and sustainer of both physical life and eternal life. The Bible testifies throughout that whoever believes in Jesus Christ has eternal life both now and forever. He alone can grant resurrection and eternal fellowship with God.
The document contains verses from the Bible and brief explanations provided by Stephen Chisati on various spiritual topics such as the nature of man, God, Jesus, salvation, and distinguishing between true and false prophets. The overall message is that one should seek God and Jesus Christ for salvation and eternal life, avoid being corrupted by the world, and be wary of false prophets and soothsayers who are not truly speaking for God.
This document summarizes a sermon given on Philippians 3:9b about righteousness coming through faith in Christ rather than works of the law. It discusses faith being evidenced in invisible spiritual realities and provides examples from Hebrews 11 of people in the Bible who lived by faith like Abraham, Noah, Enoch and Sarah. Their faith was imperfect at times but God still credited it to them as righteousness. It also references a sermon or book about the gospel being found in the stars as God promised Abraham his descendants would be as numerous. The key point is that righteousness comes from God through faith in Christ.
1) Jesus commands obedience from his followers and questions why people call him Lord but do not obey his teachings. True obedience is essential for entering God's kingdom.
2) Those who hear Jesus' words but do not act on them are building their lives on shallow foundations that will not withstand life's storms. True disciples dig deep and build on the unshakable foundation of obedience to Christ.
3) Putting Jesus' teachings into practice is the only way to know if his message is truly from God. Obedience is the test of true discipleship and the path to knowing truth.
The Heart of Jesus (Part 2) Separate Yourself For Battle: John 17:6-19David Turner
Jesus prayed that his disciples would be protected, united in their faith, and kept from the influences of the evil world. He asked the Father to sanctify them by the truth and set them apart for their mission of impacting the world, just as Jesus was set apart during his time on earth. As soldiers in the spiritual battle, believers must be separated from the world by God's word in order to faithfully continue the work Jesus began.
Why does God allow the righteous to suffer? By examining the account of Job and wondering about the death of James, we find that although we may not know why we suffer, it is important for us to learn through it. We are reminded that suffering provides us an opportunity for our faith to grow, that we will all die, and we are encouraged to continue in prayer. (Parts of this lesson were borrowed from Darrel Yontz.)

Faith is believing in God and His promises based on the evidence, even when things are not seen. This belief in God brings about obedience to Him. True faith is not simply an intellectual belief, as even demons believe, but rather it is a belief that produces good works. Faith requires obedience to God and trusting in His promises for salvation and eternal life, even when facing trials, by keeping one's eyes fixed on Jesus Christ.
This document discusses Peter Kreeft and Ronald Tacelli's chapter on the divinity of Christ from their book "The Pocket Handbook of Christian Apologetics". It examines Jesus' claims to be the Son of God and divine, arguments for his divinity like his trustworthiness, and reasons people may deny his divinity like finding the claims hard to accept. It also references passages where Jesus calls himself the Son of God and claims to forgive sins, save from death, and return to judge all people.
This is a lesson in the Crossroads programme, a discipleship programme written by Dr Kevin Smith and offered by the South African Theological Seminary. This lesson is about the Deity and Humanity of Christ.
God's back road of heartache can be excruciatingly painful. Sometimes is involves human betrayal, lying, deception, rejection or even being replaced. Yet, God can use even this pain redemptively. We'll look at a woman who had failed in five marriages, yet found the love and acceptance her heart had always craved.
The document discusses why the Gospel of John does not use the word "pray" or the noun "faith" in describing salvation. It notes that John uses the verb "believe" over 150 times to equate salvation with believing in Jesus, without adding any other requirements. The document suggests this contradicts modern evangelism that typically involves reciting a prayer. It asserts John presents salvation as a free gift received through faith alone in Christ alone.
The document discusses how to renew one's mind through transforming harmful habits and thoughts by making choices to die to oneself daily, developing godly routines of prayer and meditation, and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead one's mind to focus on Jesus Christ. Scriptures are referenced about the dangers of an unrenewed mind and the importance of transformation through spiritual renewal.
Here, meet the first of six entities accounted for in John's final two chapters of Revelation. Satan appears in the guise of the Dragon in Revelation 12. His behavior depicted here in John's Revelation parallels his behavior in the OT's Job. But, as Job overcame Satan in the Age of Patriarchs, the brethren overcome Satan at the other end of redemptive history! Both Job and the brethren in the Tribulation justify God's faith in their endurance on the front lines of most dire spiritual warfare. I offer this as a study in light and darkness.
The document provides an overview of the biblical portrayal of the Antichrist according to Revelation. It discusses that the Antichrist, also known as the Beast, is one of six protagonists that populate the Tribulation landscape. Basic information is then provided about the Antichrist's origins, nature, power, resurrection, authority, time span, and helper. Several biblical texts that are relevant to understanding the Antichrist are also listed.

The Diaspora breaks in 1948 and Jews seemingly spring from the boneyards of Eastern Europe to a national sovereignty denied them for 2000 years. What next? I think Ezekiel 38 and 39 tell that tale. The earth has a new center and it's not us, folks!
This document provides an overview of the 70 weeks prophecy from the book of Daniel. It discusses the 3 time periods that make up the 70 weeks (7 weeks, 62 weeks, 70th week), the 6 goals that are to be accomplished, and 7 key events predicted. The document tentatively interprets each of the 6 goals and provides context around prophetic weeks representing 7-year periods based on a 360 day calendar. It aims to connect the 70 weeks prophecy to both national Israel and the church.
This presentation looks into what I shall call the striking physicality of John's description of heaven, our spiritual and eternal abode. No puffy clouds and wispy-thin vistas here. Solid cities, massive gates and very solid-sounding streets dot the heaven-scape!
The covenant that God made with Abraham and developed through Moses was ratified under Joshua. In the process, God mapped out the entire history of the Jews for Moses as a prophecy. That prophecy forms the basis of the timeline along which we locate ourselves and our times as we await the return of Jesus Christ.

XXVI Revelation and the 70th Week of DanielLenny Hoy
Daniel's OT Vision of the 70 Weeks provides readers of John's Revelation with a valuable timeline along which to deploy John's NT vision's elements. The events that John chronicles do, in fact, occur within the OT's 70th Week; when we call the period 'The Tribulation' we thereby impress our Church-oriented slant on things.
V. Dispensation: Presentation and ElationLenny Hoy
In Part V, I connect the previously-studied two towers of Genesis and Revelation with a timeline made up of the commonly recognized dispensations, so called. (In the movie, The Road, Viggo Mortenson son walked an essentially dark and dead-end road. Our Holy Highway starts and ends in God's grace and in the light of His boundless mercy. Take a look at the map here!)
Here find a presentation and analysis of Daniel's Prophecy of the 70 Weeks. Jehovah warned Israel this judgmental diaspora, or dispersion, was coming, and, sadly, He knew the inevitability of it. Daniel draws our attention to details of duration, purpose, and content.
Zechariah 12-14 and the Siege of JerusalemLenny Hoy
Zechariah sets the biblical camera on Jerusalem in the closing days of the 70th Week. Lost in the mayhem and heroism is a critical sequence: when national Israel finally calls on Jesus as their messiah, He comes down from heaven and saves them. Does the Lord's promised return await Jewish acceptance of Jesus?
I attempt to describe the Christian view of the Trinity, review its biblical basis and explore the role which the Trinity serves as a role for Christian living. Meant as a companion to the Christian and Missionary Alliance's Statement of Faith and our Sunday School's study of it.
The document discusses the Christian & Missionary Alliance's statement of faith on the church. It defines the church as consisting of all believers in Jesus Christ who are redeemed by his blood and born again by the Holy Spirit, with Christ as the head. The church has been commissioned to go into all the world witnessing and preaching the gospel. There will be both true believers and false believers ("tares") within churches.
I see the Bible as having a unique internal structure: like that of a suspension bridge. Genesis and Revelation form the towers upon which the bridge's roadway hangs suspended on cords of prophecy. We'll do 'big picture' stuff like this before delving into individual prophecy passages. That way, individual passages have a useful and instructive structural connection to each other and to the Bible as a whole . . . . which is what it is, really, a 'whole'!
0.5 End Times and The Return of Christ: Table of ContentsLenny Hoy
This presentation serves as a table of contents to study of Bible prophecies regarding the Return of Christ, the reestablishment of Israel in the Holy Land, the disposition of the Saved and the Lost and the righteous judgments of God.
Chapters 14-18 of Revelations sets the stage for the Return of Jesus Christ in Chapters 19 and 20. The whole array of seven chapters sees one chapter narratively connected with the next. They proceed in story-order, from Chapter 14's Overview to the conclusion of the age in Chapter 20. Oddly enough, the most prominent and extensive spotlight falls on an entity called the Harlot of Babylon: why? WUWT?
I leap back one space on John's Isle of Patmos game board! We've stepped back out of eternity and into the more-ore-less familiar realm of time and space. Revelation Chapters 19-21 stands us on the boundary twixt these two states. They offer us a chance to explore two separate states, the so-called Millennium and the Eternal State. I see reasons for making a distinction between the two and explore my thinking in this presentation.
Here meet the fourth of six entities accounted for in the final two chapters of John's Revelation. Truth to tell, Revelation merely hints at Israel's end-times story, for it is, after all, a book written to/for the churches. The full story of the Jews in the 70th Week traces an arc of suffering that begins with seeming peace and safety and ends with God's people seemingly on the brink of extinction. Nevertheless, as Paul says here and there: "But God . . . ! How God steps in to rescue and preserve His chosen people and how He turns their hearts to His Son as their Messiah should thrill every Christian. Gives me goosebumps!
XIV The Rapture and Resurrection in I CorinthiansLenny Hoy
Paul offers his readers frequent treatments of and references to the Return of Christ. In this presentation, I examine one of his two quintessential rapture/resurrection passages and seek to place its elements in the context of our everyday Christian life.
John 3:16 describes God's love for the world and his gift of his son Jesus. It states that God loved the world so much that he gave his only son Jesus, and that whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life. The document personalizes this verse by inserting the reader's name and explaining that it is a message from God meant for each individual reader, showing his love for them. It encourages the reader that if they believe in Jesus, they will not be cut off from God or denied life in heaven.

God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, Jesus, so that all who believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. This verse from the Bible, John 3:16, is quoted in the document to emphasize God's great love for humanity and his gift of salvation through faith in his Son. The verse is presented in three different translations to convey the same message: that through believing in Jesus, one can have everlasting life rather than face destruction.

The document summarizes John 3:16 from the Bible in four versions. It states that God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. The key message is that God gave his son Jesus to save humanity and offer eternal life to those who believe in him.
The document discusses the concept of eternal life as promised by God. It notes that eternal life can only come from God, not humans, and that God promised eternal life before the world began. It encourages readers to believe in Jesus, repent of sins, confess faith in Jesus, and be baptized to receive eternal life.
The document contains several Bible passages about salvation through Jesus Christ. It discusses that God sent his Son to save the world and all who believe in him will have eternal life. It also explains that salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned, only received through faith in Jesus. The passages portray Jesus as the gate, shepherd and resurrection who saves those who believe in him and follow him.

This document is the November/December 2016 issue of the New Dawning Magazine. It includes various articles on ministry, youth, scripture, poetry, recipes, and more. The editorial by Joyce Eason discusses unity within families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. It also provides credits, contact information, and a faith statement for the magazine.
God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, Jesus, so that all who believe in him will have eternal life. The verse explains that God created the world and loves each person in it. It refers to Jesus as God's only begotten Son. It states that whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life in heaven. The document then personalizes the verse by inserting the reader's name and explaining that it is a message from God for each individual reader.
This document discusses key aspects of believing in Jesus. It states that believing in Jesus involves accepting him as Savior, Lord, and King such that he dwells in our hearts. It notes that those who believe are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God, overcoming sin and the world. The document outlines rewards in heaven for overcoming, including ruling nations and receiving the morning star. It identifies the Spirit, water, and blood as the three witnesses testifying about Jesus, and says believers must also testify about him.
This document discusses the eternal life that God has promised. It notes that eternal life comes only from God, not from humans, and that God promised eternal life before the world began. It encourages believers to have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of sins, confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and be baptized in order to receive eternal life.
Throughout John’s gospel, Jesus has repeatedly spoken to us of life, especially eternal life. Yet the his disciples and the people still don’t really understand that he is the Son of God. In this last of the seven signs John shows us that Jesus is truly the Son of God and has power over death. The question is whether we believe. If we believe, we will never die.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews, comes to Jesus at night seeking answers. Jesus tells Nicodemus that no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. He explains that one must be born of water and the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus likens being born again to the wind, which one cannot tell where it comes from or goes. Later, Jesus tells Nicodemus that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. He was sent by God not to condemn the world but to save it.

1) The Bible passages 1 John 2:23, John 6:47, and 1 John 5:13 assure believers that they will have everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ.
2) Everlasting life refers to spiritual life that continues forever in either heaven or hell. It begins at the moment of belief and goes on eternally.
3) God originally intended for Adam and Eve to live forever in paradise, but their sin brought physical and spiritual death. God then provided Jesus as the perfect sacrifice to restore believers' access to eternal life.
Nicodemus recognized that Jesus came from God, but was clueless about the true purpose of Jesus’ coming. Jesus makes it clear that the kingdom is spiritual and that he must die. We must set aside “what we’ve always known” to listen to Jesus and believe what he says so that we can be saved.
The document is a song lyric that praises God and expresses gratitude for his blessings. It describes blessing God's name even during difficult times like being in the desert or wilderness, and when suffering or darkness is present. It reiterates blessing God's name and being grateful for every blessing he provides.
Pastor Elio Marrocco's "The Reality of Hell" sermon at New Life Christian Church on May 20, 2012. You can learn more about New Life Christian Church here: http://www.newlifecc.ca
The document announces a 13-week Bible study on "Knowing and Doing the Will of God" led by Ann Dokken on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30am beginning June 2nd. It includes several Bible verses from 1 John chapter 5 about overcoming the world through faith, the testimony of the Spirit, water and blood, and that anyone born of God does not continue to sin and is kept safe from the evil one.
This is the greatest verse in the bible, it demonstrates the Love of God for man and how God was willing to give the very best thing he had to save us from our sins...
This document presents the gospel message and explains how to receive salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It discusses that eternal life is a free gift from God, all people are sinners, God provided a way for salvation through Jesus's death and resurrection, and salvation is received through faith in Jesus alone. It provides a sample prayer to accept Jesus as savior and receive eternal life.
XXIII The Return of Jesus Christ in RevelationLenny Hoy
This document provides commentary on chapters 19-20 of the book of Revelation, which describe the return of Jesus Christ. It begins by summarizing the events in chapter 19, including the celebration in heaven over God's judgment on Babylon and the marriage supper of the Lamb. It then analyzes some elements of the text, such as the brevity of the description of Christ's return compared to the extensive coverage of Babylon. The document suggests the Bible may focus on what believers need to know rather than providing lurid details. It also notes patterns in how the Bible depicts Christ's return as establishing important facts rather than vivid pictures.
After examining the promised-and-coming apostasy from the faith of believers in the End Times, you may be wondering. "Are these apostate-type people losing their salvation" and, even more pointedly, "Can I lose my salvation?" Let's examine this before we move into Revelation and really get stressed out by challenges!
Paul warns Timothy–and by extension, us, to expect that a persecution of the End Times will winnow the Church of uncommitted Christians, men and women of apparent 'faith' who are unwilling to endure suffering for Jesus. WUWT?
Paul tells his Thessalonian 'children' about a time when God shall remove the one who restrains 'the man of lawlessness". This evil entity will then flourish for a season with apparently limitless power. Bad news? No. Necessary-to-Hear-News if the Church of the End Times is to be of full service to Him. (The 'man of lawlessness' is restrained NOW? Whoa! What's the measure of dysfunction, persecution and sin going to be like at his release from bondage?)
When, oh Lord, does Your mighty hammer of Justice drop on all this world's dysfunction, persecution and sin? Paul recognizes the suffering of the 1st Century Thessalonian church and promises its members, on God's behalf, just such Divinely-ordained relief. But it's a relief that stands 2000 years distant from the suffering this church endures as Paul writes. WUWT? Get God's perspective on our suffering here!
Here's the other of Paul's two quintessential Rapture/Resurrection passages. Add your knowledge of this passage to familiarity with I Corinthians 15. Now the student of biblical prophecy can gather clues as to the 'when' and 'how' of these events and take this combination portrait into other prophecy passages with good results. With both passages firmly grasped, students of biblical prophecy can properly integrate our hope of eternal life into the routine of our daily lives.
XIII Companion Verses to the Olivet DiscourseLenny Hoy
I offer a palette of passages meant to deepen your appreciation for Jesus' Olivet Discourse's significance. And not only 'deepen' appreciation, but also clarify and underscore some seriously grave warnings and grim descriptions of the End-Time's that Christ offers His readers for consideration. This collection of related verses is well worth your inspection and reflection.
XII Olivet Discourse and the Return of ChristLenny Hoy
You have been somewhat equipped in the previous two presentations with some guidance on how to make appropriate, daily use of End-Times prophecies. Now we step into a major prophecy passage. Jesus' Olivet Discourse provides a bridge between Old Testament prophetic narratives and those of Paul and John. What does Jesus, Himself, have to say about His own return? And, just as importantly, to whom does He address the various warnings in this pivotal discourse? Is He talking to me?
Using Acts 1 and its account of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, I search for some boundary markers and guideposts for my daily use of NT prophecy. I want my study of Christ's return to be a part of my daily walk, not a flight from it. Our Lord's last words provide just such markers and posts!
How do prophecies about the return of Jesus Christ fit into the daily lives of Christians? Indeed, does interest in such notions simply distract us from our central mission: preaching the gospel and making disciples? I would like to explore essential elements about prophecy that will suggest that looking for Christ's return belongs in the very center of our daily lives.
XXVII Sequence for Seals, Trumpets and BowlsLenny Hoy
How does God intend the reader of Revelation to arrange the Seals, Trumpets and Bowls? I offer an alternative to the usual system which equates the order-of-mention with the order-of-occurrence. I share my reasons for my departure from traditional views.
1. The document discusses the Bible's treatment of creation in the end times.
2. It describes how creation will endure various layers of judgmental destruction during the 70th week, including seals, trumpets, the two witnesses, and bowls.
3. These judgments will involve disasters like fires, plagues, earthquakes, and darkened skies, representing the beginning birth pangs of a new creation.
You have stumbled onto a table of contents for a study of biblical prophecy through 30 or so separate slide presentations. God may have a place for my distinct and one-of-a-kind response to biblical end-times prophecy. Students of prophecy will find both novelty and challenge here. Newcomers to biblical prophecy will find I keep them rooted in God's Word and give fair notice of when and where I deal with inference and personal conjecture.
Short descriptors of each presentation accompany the listings. My prayers for their usefulness to you in your walk with the Lord precede them.
This document discusses experiencing the Holy Spirit according to biblical principles. It lists several biblical passages about God's role in empowering believers to walk in the Spirit, including how God causes all things to work for good, has a purpose and plan for believers, and provides power, peace and promises of overcoming. The document also discusses the pilgrim's role, including that believers are new creations in Christ, called to work out salvation with fear and trembling as God works in them, and to lay aside the old self and walk as children of light.
This document contrasts walking in the spirit versus walking in the law. Walking in the spirit means imitating God through love, changing behavior by focusing on relationships rather than rules, and allowing the Holy Spirit to empower inner renewal rather than relying on human effort alone. In contrast, walking in the law focuses on outward displays, rules, and trying to please God through self-effort, which often leads to frustration. The document encourages readers to stop struggling in their own power and instead discover the new self already created within them by God.
For the Christian, walking in the Spirit has nothing to do with keeping THE Law or, indeed, keeping and behavioral code to please God or validate His choice of you. We are new creatures in Christ!
LL Final Thoughts on Walking in the Spirit 5Lenny Hoy
This document discusses three potential missteps that new Christians may take in their understanding of "walking in the Spirit". It analyzes each misstep, providing biblical references to help correct misunderstandings. It also examines the teaching of "Word Faith" preachers on claiming God's promises and identifies verses that call for balancing such claims with humility and recognizing God's will.
The document discusses how to write an effective analytical thesis statement that defines the writer's purpose, focuses the writing and reader, and launches an argument. It explains that a strong thesis statement appears at the beginning, is a complete sentence, announces a conclusion, provides reasons for that conclusion, and defines the purpose. Examples of weak thesis statements are provided that lack these key elements.
The document discusses the doctrine of sola scriptura and how believers and the church should approach understanding and applying the Bible. It emphasizes that the Holy Spirit illuminates believers to understand scripture but believers must test teachings against scripture. Gifts of prophecy, wisdom and teaching from the Spirit should be evaluated based on scriptural agreement.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
