Color codes
• Each resistor has either 4 or 5 bands. In the 4
band type, the first two bands indicate the
first two digits of the value while the third one
indicates the number of zeros that follow, the
last band specifies the tolerance: in the
example below gold indicates that the resistor
value can be 10k ohm or minus 5%
Write out an example calculation to
find the # of Amps of your circuit
(use Ohm's law)
When I was making my circuit, the circuit
supplied 5 volts the resistor supplied 220 ohms
of resistance. To find the number of amps of
your circuit you will need to divide 220 by 5
which will give you .023. This will give you
23miliamps.
Show me the colour code for
your chosen resistor.
• The resistor that I have chosen for my circuit
has 4 bands the colour code is red, red,
brown, and gold. The first bands digit is 2 the
second digit is also 2 the third digit which is
also a multiplier is one which makes 220 the
last band is called tolerance which is 5%
