This document discusses the challenges faced by new science librarians at McGill University due to a hiring gap between 2001-2006. When experienced librarians retired, new librarians had to take on responsibilities with little training and faculty had minimal awareness of library services. As a result, the new librarians had to introduce themselves to departments, talk to students, implement new programs and advertising approaches. They have since developed strong faculty and student relationships but note that a librarian's job is never-ending in providing anytime, anywhere service to clients.
