Lathen is a small village located in northwestern Lower Saxony, Germany near the Ems River and close to the Dutch border. It is known for the Transrapid magnetic levitation train test track. The village is surrounded by nature including forests, moors, and swimming lakes. It contains one large school that combines several types of schools from elementary to secondary levels.
