1. 1. The stressors of an adult are more likely to be related to the day to day circumstances of life
such as in relation to work or family. This includes running late caused by traffic, overload of
appointments, financial problems, family misunderstandings and many others that causes
stress, depending on the individuals coping abilities. While basing on the 74 year old elderly I
have interviewed, his stressors are more about his changes in lifestyle caused by stroke. This is
evidenced by his feelings that someday, he might not have someone to take care for him when
his daughter gets married. Also, the elderly added that other stressors include fear that his
condition might worsen. I conclude that compared to adults, elderly clients may have stressors
caused by changes in lifestyle and conditions triggered by aging and past lifestyle rather than
the day to day circumstances of life.
2. The elderly has a BMI of 16.6 which implicates that he is underweight compared to my own BMI
of 19.3 which is normal. The elderly’ BMI along with his partial physical inactivity makes him a
risk factor for heart diseases and malnutrition.
3. Exercise is very essential to an individual’s life not only it prevents certain diseases but also
improves stamina, strengthens and tones muscles, enhances flexibility, controls weight and
improves quality of life. As to how much exercise is needed by an individual, some sources say
that a 15-minute walk is enough for a day while others say that exercise must be done no more
than 3 times a week. It is further advised that too much exercise can cause deleterious effects
such as muscle injuries while not doing a regular exercise is ineffective for health.
Exercise program for a 60-year old retiree in 1 week:
a. Stretch major muscles such as the extremities early in the morning holding the stretch for
10-30 seconds.
b. Go for a walk or jog for not more than 15 minutes in a day.
4. 1 day menu for the client on 3 #1:
Breakfast: 3 oz. of whole grain
2 glasses of water
Lunch: vegan salad chopped in small pieces
1 cup mashed potatoes with less butter
2 glasses of water
Dinner: 1 serving of Tuna fish
1 cup of rice
2 glasses of water
