Geometric Figures Brice McDaniel Block 2
Point Something that has position but not extension, as the intersection of two lines.
Line (Segment) A part cut off from a figure, esp. a circular or spherical one, by a line or plane, as a part of a circular area contained by an arc and its chord or by two parallel lines or planes.
Plane A surface generated by a straight line moving at a constant velocity with respect to a fixed point .
Angle The space within two lines or three or more planes diverging from a common point, or within two planes diverging from a common line.
Perpendicular Lines Lines that intersect and meet at a 90 degree right angle .
Parallel Lines Lines that extend forever and never cross each other.
Triangle A closed plane figure having three sides and three angles.
Right Triangle A triangle containing a right angle.
Pentagon A polygon having five angles and five sides.
Hexagon A polygon having six angles and six sides.
Square A rectangle having all four sides of equal length.
Rectangle A parallelogram having four right angles.
Trapezoid A quadrilateral plane figure having two parallel and two nonparallel sides.
Parallelogram A figure that has four sides so that the two opposite sides are parallel and the other two sides are parallel to each other.
Circle A closed plane curve consisting of all points at a given distance from a point within it called the center.
Cylinder A surface or solid bounded by two parallel planes and generated by a straight line moving parallel to the given planes and tracing a curve bounded by the planes and lying in a plane perpendicular or oblique to the given planes.
Sphere A solid geometric figure generated by the revolution of a semicircle about its diameter; a round body whose surface is at all points equidistant from the center .
Octagon A polygon having eight angles and eight sides.
Triangular Prism A prism whose bases are triangles.
Rectangular Pyramid A pyramid whose bases are all rectangles.
