of ceiling structures for Boeing 747 de-luxe conversion.

2. Jan. 2002 to Mar. 2003: Contract stress engineer, Airbus France, Toulouse. (Component Design &
Build Team): Preliminary analysis and sizing of fuselage frame joints and fittings near the landing
gear for the A380.Interpreting NASTRAN results to the real structure using the Airbus PSN15
post-processor, for hand-calcs using XL Visual Basic.

Vitoria, Spain. Static analysis of the rear fuselage frames for the Embraer 170.
Nov. 1998 to Dec. 2000: Contract stress engineer, Hurel Dubois, near Paris, France,
working on new thrust reverser for the AirbusA318, with the Pratt & Whitney PW6000
engine: Design stressing and sizing of structure and fittings. Mainly hand calcs using results from
NASTRAN. Also using PATRAN, and IDEAS.
Sept. 1996 to Nov. 1998: Contract Stress Engineer, Boeing, Seattle, USA
1) Design stress analysis of major wing fittings for engine and landing gear, including consideration of
break away conditions, on 747X (550-600 seat air liner), until cancellation of project.
2) Stress analysis of in service 747 aircraft, concerned with repairs to power plant, involved with engine
cowlings, thrust reversers, pylon structures, engine mounts and attachment fittings.
Nov. 1995 to Sept. 1996: Contract Stress Engineer, WestlandAerospace, Isle of Wight, U.K. Engaged
on stress analysis of composite structures for EH101 helicopter, using NASTRAN and PATRAN 3.
Consideration of fireproofing requirements of composite engine cowlings for certification.
Feb. 1995 to Oct 1995: Contract Stress Engineer, Canadair, Montreal,
Initial design stressing on Global Express centre fuselage section and static test, including system stress
analysis. Reviewed stress reports of partners on the project.
May 1994 to Feb. 1995: Contract Stress Engineer, WestlandHelicopters, U.K.
Engaged on the check stress of the EH101 civil version. Preparing the Static Strength Reports for the
cabin roof frames and side frames.
Aug. 1992 to May 1994: Working for British Aerospace, Filton, U.K. in local contract office.
Engaged on design stressing of repairs on the AirbusA300and A310 wings. Work included hand calcs
and FE modelling using NASTRAN and MSC/XL for pre and post-processing.
Jan 1992 to Aug. 1992: Contract Stress Engineer at Sonaca, Gosselies, Belgium.
Engaged on the redesign of the Airbus A330/A340 slats. Hand calcs for the preliminary design of ribs
and panels. Using computer modelling (CATIA/SAMSEF) for final reports.
Feb. 1988 to Jan 1992: Contract Stress Engineer at British Aerospace,
Filton, U.K. Engaged on design stressing of Airbus A330/A340 wing fixed leading edge,
D-nose skin, riblets and sub spar, trailing edge inner wing panels, and hinge rib weight reduction,
(mainly hand calcs). Then PATRAN Pre- and Post-processing for NASTRAN modelling of critical areas
of front spar and wing ribs. Also using boundary element solution to determine local stresses in the spar
flanges.
Feb. 1987 to Feb. 1988: Contract Stress Engineer at Aeritalia, (now Alenia), Naples, Italy. Engaged
on design stressing of the main landing gear fairing for the ATR-72 regional transport aircraft. The work
included initial design stressing of Al. alloy frames and AFRP (kevlar) sandwich skin panels by hand
calcs and NASTRAN FE models.
3. May 1986 to Feb. 1987: Contract Stress Engineer at Shorts Bros., Belfast, Ireland.
Engaged on revised flap loading, inertia factors and engine mountings for the Shorts SD-360.
Sept. 1985 to May 1986: Contract Stress Engineer Engaged on the check stress of the Fokker F50
aircraft. Preparation of ultimate strength reports for elevator and trim tab, including hinge fittings.
Fuselage skin joints. Checking of fuselage frame reports.
May 1984 to Sept. 1985: Contract Stress Engineer on FokkerF100. Working on flap track beams, flap
mechanism and leading edge spar. Preliminary design stressing covering evaluation of loads, stressing
panels, forgings and machined items. Consideration of failsafe design, fatigue and damage tolerance.
Preparation of finite element models of flap track beams. Checking of production drawings.
Oct. 1980 to Mar. 1984: Contract Mechanical Engineer at Thorn EMIDatatech.
Duties included design and calculations of small mechanisms in tape transports,
Worked as a Project Leader on disk drive based sub-systems.
Feb. 1980 to Oct. 1980: Contract Stress Engineer at BAJ Vickers, Banwell, U.K.
Engaged on Sounding rockets and rocket launcher. Work included structural
analysis including consideration of fatigue and crack growth in pressure vessels.

Working on engine cowlings for Rolls Royce. Calculation of external loads from given flight
envelopes prior to stress analysis of the cowling structure as the design progressed.

on detail stressing of secondary structures for the Sea King helicopter.
