Where can you find a Geocache? Anywhere in the world!
We have three right here at ESU They are in Hawaii And even in Paris
Types of Geocaches - Traditional Traditional caches can be any shape or size.
Types of Geocaches - Traditional And some can be a challenge The hint, it is under a rock. Note the rock wall!
It is a hotel for Travel Bugs
What is a travel bug?
Map showing travel bug travels Mark Cavendish traveled 15,626.6 George Hincapie traveled 13,683.7 miles
Types of Geocaches - Multicache First stage/ location Second stage/ location
Types of Geocaches - Virtual Cache To find out more about these caches click on the map.
Types of Geocaches - Mystery or Puzzle Cache Mystery or puzzle caches are exactly what they seem to be. The can be easy or complicated. Click on link below and try to figure out the coordinates for this geocache located on campus.
Types of Geocaches - Webcam Cache So next time you are out, remember--someone might be watching.
Types of Geocaches - Earth Cache 7 Wonders of Pike County is a series of Earth Caches placed in Bucks County. The goal is to find all 7. Each one has questions that must be solved. To visit the 7 Wonder of Pike County web site, click above.
Types of Geocaches - Event Cache Megaevent Cache Halloween event cache--41 geocachers and 3 geodogs. Mega events have over 500 geocachers
What can go in a cache? Just about anything
What do you know about geocaching? Which of the following is not a type of cache: Traditional Multicache Historical cache Event cache Earth cache How old do you have to be to go geocaching? Anything Anywhere in the world GPS Any age What can be a travel bug? Where can you find a geocache? What do you need to find a geocache?
Questions??
Now we will explore geocaching a little more by looking at some geocaches and finding out about the area where the geocache is located.

Editor's Notes

  1. A multicache is similar to a traditional except that you do not find the cache at the first coordinates. You may have to go to 4 or 5 different places to get to the final destination.
  2. A virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit. Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.
  3. These are caches that use existing web cameras placed by individuals or agencies that monitor various areas like parks or road conditions. The idea is to get yourself in front of the camera to log your visit. The challenging part, however, it that you need to call a friend to look up the web site that displays the camera shot. You will need to have them to save the picture to log the cache.
  4. An EarthCache is a special place that people can visit to learn about a unique geoscience feature or aspect of our Earth. EarthCaches include a set of educational notes and the details about where to find the location (latitude and longitude). Visitors to EarthCaches can see how our planet has been shaped by geological processes, how we manage the resources and how scientists gather evidence to learn about the Earth. For more information about EarthCaches,
  5. An event cache is an event that is hold were geocaches get together. They can eat, play games, and talk about geocaching. A megaevent cache is one that has over 500 attendees. There is one that will be held outside of Erie, Pennsylvania in July. They expect 5,000-6,000 attendees.
