Gentoo penguins live in cold but ice-free areas of Antarctica and surrounding islands, preferring rocky places where they lay their eggs among pebbles and sometimes steal nest materials from other birds, and can dive up to 655 feet deep for food while holding their breath for seven minutes as they normally lay two eggs at a time.
