By Chloe, Clara and Ashleigh. They decided to create an R&B magazine because that genre of music is very popular with their generation and they can relate to the lyrics. Researching existing music magazines also showed that most covered R&B, which would make creating their practical task easier. Rhythm and blues originated in the 1940s as a genre of African-American music and was used by record companies to describe music with an insistent beat that was popular among urban African Americans. The group is confident in their choice of R&B as they already have knowledge from listening to the music and like how R&B magazine covers portray artists in a vulnerable way compared to rap magazine images.

decided to create an R&B magazine. We
chose this genre as it’s very popular with our
generation as we can relate to the lyrics and
we listen to this type of music which helps as
it’s useful to have knowledge for the topic.
Also when we were researching we found
that most music magazines genre was R&B
which would make the practical task easier
for us.

3. Rhythm and blues, often abbreviated to R&B and RnB, is a
genre of popular African-American music that originated in
the 1940s. The term was originally used by record companies
to describe recordings to urban African Americans, at a time
when "urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy,
insistent beat" was becoming more popular. By the 1970s the
term ‘rhythem and blues’ was being used as a blanket term
to describe soul and funk.

4. I am pleased and confident with our genre as
we have enough knowledge already as we
listen too this music, also I like how the R&B
magazine covers are in a close up to contrast
with their rap image as it makes them look
vulnerable.
