Rhythm and blues originated in the 1940s as a genre of African-American music and was used by record companies to describe music with an insistent beat that was popular among urban African Americans. The group is confident in their choice of R&B as they already have knowledge from listening to the music and like how R&B magazine covers portray artists in a vulnerable way compared to rap magazine images.
