• Colour scheme allows background and text colour to contrast in
order separate out sections of information
• Usability is vital as it allows readers to easily navigate the site, using
a navigation bar it contains links to separate pages
• Images are used to make the page look more visibly pleasing to the
reader
• Main section of the website is reserved for navigation tools to various
articles
• A grid system is often used to help separate areas of the website and
presents the information in small easily accessible portions.

3. IMAGES
• Images really help the visuals of the website
• Certain links to other pages are highlighted with images
• Images can often be presented pin-board like style
• Images must be high quality

4. CODING
• Most websites have moving images presented as a slideshow
• Often includes interactivity to attract audience
• Regional websites contain sections where people can comment
and have discussions.
• Music websites often have downloadable audio files whilst a art
website could have downloadable images.

5. DIFFERENCE OF GENRE
• Genre has a large impact on how a website looks
• A news website has a tabloid format
• Whilst a fashion website will be a lot more informal
• Codes and conventions are used to allow the audience to
recognise the genre

6. HEADING/BANNER
• Can be found across the top of the website
• Include conventions such mastheads, logos, contact details,
navigational links, strapline and social media links.
• Often spans the entire width of the website

7. NAVIGATION BAR
• Situated at the top of the website page
• Helps direct the reader to various pages on the site
• Helps organise the website

8. TYPOGRAPHY
• Unique font is used for certain conventions like mastheads and
headlines giving some uniqueness
• Articles are written in plain font allowing the interface to
continue being user friendly

9. ADVERTISEMENTS
• Advertisements tend to have their own boxes often located at
the bottom of the page or down the sides
• Advertisements are tailored to readers based on their search
history so the adverts got appeal to them.
• They are also genre related, with fashion websites containing
advertisements for clothing stores.
