This document outlines the Stella Maris carbon capture and storage project. The project aims to provide a large-scale, flexible offshore solution to lower the costs of CCS. Key elements include CO2 terminals that can store up to 7 million tonnes per year, shuttle carriers to transport CO2 between emitters and terminals, and a floating injection unit for continuous offshore CO2 injection into underground reservoirs. The project envisions establishing industrial CCS hubs and cluster networks to reduce costs and risks by enabling the capture of emissions from multiple small sources. Government support and EU funding will be important for realizing this large-scale CCS infrastructure solution.
