Insects have a segmented body divided into three main parts - the head, thorax, and abdomen. The head contains eyes, antennae, and mouthparts and can be oriented in three positions - prognathous, hypognathous, or opisthognathous. The thorax is composed of three segments that each contain a pair of legs and in some insects a pair of wings. The abdomen contains the digestive and reproductive organs.
