A meeting was held on April 9th, 2015 to review progress and plan future training on using Google Web Tools. Representatives from the Directorate of Education of Goa, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Google, and LLF attended. It was reported that over 1,100 teachers had been reached so far. Going forward, plans were made to set up 6 learning centers in schools across Goa by May 15th to provide infrastructure and training to more teachers on using Google tools to improve classroom learning. Training for higher secondary teachers was also proposed from mid-June to July.

1. Utilisation of Google Web Tools
A meeting of the organisers of the training programme for utilising Google
Web Tools was held in the evening of the 9th April 2015 in the office of the
Director of Education, Government of Goa. This was a meeting to review the
progress of the training package as well as to plan for the future.
1. The Directorate was represented by Shri Gajanan Bhat, Director of
Education and State Mission Director, RMSA, Dr Ghadi, Asst.
Director, RMSA, Mr. Jangam, former State Coordinator and Mr.
Nagendra Kore, the current State Coordinator, RMSA. Mr. Bharat and
Mr. John of RMSA were also present.

Proceedings
Dr. Vernal did the initial introductions. Thereafter, Ms. Bani appreciated the
support given by the Chairman of Goa Board and the RMSA set-up in
organising a large number of workshops in a very short span of time. She
hoped that the establishment of a GEG in Goa would greatly contribute
towards the wide use of technology tools which Google has made freely
available.
It was informed to the gathering that the Google initiative reached out to
more than 1100 teachers and identified 168 potential GEG leads in short
span of 4 months. This effort was very well appreciated by all concerned
officials of the Education Department.
Taking this forward, the next level of interventions was considered:
a) Setting up of Learning Centres in 6 schools across Goa which have
good infrastructure to make them effective learning hubs where
teachers from in and around these centres could take advantage of
the resources and be trained to use the web tools for improving
learning in the classroom. Some such schools were identified.
However, the Directorate of Education and the Goa Board would select
them at Vasco, Sankhali, Mapusa, Panaji, Ponda, Margao. The

2. Director agreed to increase the computer infrastructural facilities in
the Government Higher Secondary School at Sankhali.
b) Google will provide PD support to the teachers in these learning
centres. The LLF, the Goa Board and the Directorate of Education
would meet to strategise and plan the work plan of these Learning
Centres.
c) The above exercise would be completed by 15th May.
d) The proposal for organising training sessions for the Higher
Secondary teachers was accepted in principle and the training
sessions would on the same lines as was done for the high school
teachers, involving the Board, RMSA and LLF. The optimum time for
these workshops would be mid June to July end.
