1. WAVE SDG’s 10th Edition
Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals
By Mike Gittoes, Business Development Manger
18th December 2023
2. What are sustainable development goals?
• The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are
a set of 17 global objectives established by the
United Nations to address the most pressing
economic, social, and environmental challenges
facing our world.
• The SDGs are designed to guide countries and
organisations in their efforts to eradicate
poverty, protect the planet, and ensure
prosperity for all. These goals cover a wide
range of interconnected issues, including
poverty alleviation, gender equality, clean
energy, sustainable cities, climate action,
responsible consumption and production, and
more.
• The SDGs provide a holistic framework for
creating a better future, fostering a world that is
more equitable, economically prosperous, and
environmentally sustainable for present and
future generations.

in optimizing energy efficiency and reducing our
own and our client's environmental impact.
• As an employee-owned company, our vision
revolves around shared success and inclusivity.

this framework. By integrating sustainable practices
into our business operations, we ensure that our
employees are part of a company that operates
ethically and contributes to the greater good.
• We believe in creating a better future for
generations to come, and by incorporating
sustainable practices into our business model, we
actively contribute to achieving the global goals
Sustainable Development while setting an example

6. The Cart Shed - Herefordshire
Sou(p)s Chef Mike!
• The Cart Shed is an organisation dedicated to transforming lives, specifically those
facing mental health difficulties and emotional imbalances. Through engaging
woodland activities like woodcraft, horticulture, and a range of therapeutic approaches,
they empower individuals to take charge of their mental and physical well-being in a
sustainable way.
• We are proud to share that our very own Mike Gittoes has embarked on volunteering
journey with The Cart Shed as a cook. Drawing from his previous experience as a chef,
albeit more than 10 years ago.
• Mike took charge of the kitchen, impressively cooking for groups of 15 to 25 people.
Mike prepared hearty soups and crafted mouth-watering sausage sandwiches,
providing sustenance to the hardworking staff, volunteers, and participants. Moreover,
he ensured that everyone was fuelled with a healthy supply of tea and coffee, keeping
spirits high throughout the sessions.
• Mike will continue to volunteer with the charity and will have some more cooking
volunteering days coming up soon. WAVE also plans to support the Cart Shed with
further volunteering and support in building new sites and supporting at the Plant Fair
on Wednesday 24th April 2024.

7. Growing Trees - At Home
Tree Germinating Challenge
7
• The tree germinating challenge promotes reforestation efforts by
encouraging employees to grow trees from seeds. By increasing the
tree cover, we enhance biodiversity, combat desertification, and work
towards achieving a sustainable balance between human activities and
nature
• Everyone at WAVE is getting involved in this challenge, collecting fallen
seeds when walking in autumn. These seeds are then planted in pots
and will be left out during the winter. When the spring comes the
warmer weather will trigger germination and sprout creating new tree
sprouts.
• This challenge helps raise awareness among employees about the
importance of trees and the vital role they play in mitigating climate
change. By growing trees, we actively participate in reducing
greenhouse gas emissions, as trees absorb carbon dioxide and release
oxygen, thereby acting as natural carbon sinks.
• By encouraging employees to plant and nurture trees, we emphasize
the importance of sustainable resource use. Trees produce timber, fruits,
and other essential materials that can be sustainably harvested, ensuring
that our production practices align with the goal of responsible
consumption.
8. Shelter for Cancer Kids - Sukrutham
Donations of Books & Food
8
• On the 7th December 2023, the WAVE Inda team consisting of comprising Gokul,
Nandu, Siva, Abhay, and Fahad, donated books, art supplies and food to the Shelter
for Cancer Kids in Sukrutham.
• The team also donated lunch and food provisions to alleviate food insecurity,
promoting dignity and well-being for the shelter's residents and staff. Their efforts
promoted education, addressed hunger, and fostered good health and well-being,
empowering individuals and nurturing holistic development.
• The profound impact of the WAVE India team's initiative, comprising book and food
donations, educational engagement, and community building, resonates with the
sustainable development goals set forth by WAVE. By advocating for accessible
education and nurturing resilient communities, Gokul, Nandu, Siva, Abhay, and Fahad
have navigated the path toward sustainable development while spreading joy and
hope at the Shelter for Cancer Kids in Sukrutham. Their actions serve as a reminder
that even small gestures can have a ripple effect, transforming lives and building a
more compassionate and connected society.
9. Mission Christmas - Leeds
Packing Presents!
9
• On December 8th, 2023, we witnessed the true spirit of giving as WAVE's
incredible team of volunteers, comprising Sam Cameron, Caitlin Earle, and
Jack Brockbank, dedicated their time to support the Cash for Kids charity.
Their efforts at the Store Room in Leeds brought joy and hope to many
children in need this Christmas season.
• Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity that aims to improve the lives of
disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, especially those
affected by poverty, illness, neglect, or who have additional needs. Their
mission is to ensure that all children can express their individuality, achieve
their potential, and live life to the full. By working with grass-roots
organisations, Cash for Kids provides direct support to families who often
have nowhere else to turn.
• The volunteering event, aptly named "Mission Christmas," saw the
collaboration of Sam, Caitlin, Jack, and the Cash for Kids team. Together,
they embarked on the vital task of sorting through generous donations of
Christmas gifts. With care and dedication, they ensured that each present
was packed and ready to reach the children who need them the most.
10. Working Towards B Corp
10
• B Corp certification is a prestigious recognition awarded to companies that
meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance,
transparency, and accountability. It signifies that an organisation is not solely
focused on generating profits but also committed to making a positive impact
on society and the planet.
• For WAVE, obtaining B Corp certification is crucial as it demonstrates our
dedication to our core values and reinforces our commitment to sustainable
practices. It serves as a testament to our efforts of operating responsibly, which
aligns with the expectations of our environmentally conscious customers.
• Having successfully completed the self-assessment phase is an important
milestone for WAVE in its journey towards attaining B Corp certification.
However, it is now essential for the company to provide evidence to showcase
our adherence to the certification standards. This evidence could include
documentation of environmental initiatives implemented, community
engagement programs, employee benefits and policies, as well as supply
chain transparency measures.
• Working towards B Corp certification goes beyond just acquiring a label; it
signifies a transformative shift in the company's structure and mindset. As
WAVE undergoes necessary changes within its organisational structure to meet
the certification requirements, it is positioning itself as a leader in the industry,
championing a sustainable business approach.
