Game Sense is an approach to physical education that emphasizes tactical awareness, skill application, and modification of games to increase participation. It originated from Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) and was developed by Bunker and Thorpe due to concerns about students' ability to play games. Game Sense takes a student-centered approach that allows students to create their own understanding of games through participation, discussion of tactics and strategies, and modifying game rules. It focuses on developing decision-making, movement knowledge, and movement capability. Game Sense can accommodate varying ability levels, promote teamwork and inclusion, and contribute to achieving broader educational outcomes.
