Business angels provide more than just funding for startups. They are the dominant early-stage investors in Scotland and have increasingly organized into structured syndicates. While individual angels still invest, the number of angel syndicates in Scotland has grown from 5 to over 20 in the past 8 years. Angel syndicates allow for risk diversification and provide startups with larger rounds of funding and more favorable deal terms.
