This lesson teaches students how to divide fractions with unlike denominators using visual models. Students practice solving word problems that involve dividing fractions. They learn that when dividing fractions it is possible to get a whole number quotient or an answer larger than the original fraction. Students are shown that one way to divide fractions with different denominators is to first rewrite them as equivalent fractions with a common denominator. Examples and exercises are provided for students to practice dividing fractions using models.
