  1. 1. Paragraph 1: Introduction  Use a strong and creative lead sentence  Include the title and author  Refer to the genre of the book. Provide evidence of this genre.  Full summary of the book. Explain main events beginning to end. Identify the climax of the story. Include the setting in your summary.   2. 2. Paragraph 2: Character Description (this may produce more than one paragraph)  Make a claim about the main character.  Support your claim with at least three pieces of text-based evidence and references. ………………….….don’t forget to transition between paragraphs……………………

Paragraph 3: Excerpt and Explanation (follow proper quotation rules-see attached)  Include a “set-up” of the scene of the scene you chose and include the page number.  Copy an excerpt from the book  Then include an explanation of why you chose this part. What made this excerpt stand out?  What was the relevance of this excerpt in the story? ………………….….don’t forget to transition between paragraphs…………………
  4. 4. Paragraph 4: Conclusion  Explain the author’s purpose for writing this book.  Identify the theme of the book  Is there a lesson to be learned from the events or main character? Go back and add vocabulary and a literary element!!!
