Introduction
 Industrial automation: Industrial automation is the control
of machinery and processes used in various industries by
autonomous systems through the use of technologies like
robotics and computer software.
 Programmable logic controller(PLC)
• Programming
• Input/Output modules
 Human Machine Interface (HMI)

Motivation and Need
 PLCs are widely used in a variety of industries
because they're fast, easy to operate and are
considered easy to program. PLC is used:
 To reduce the human efforts
 To get maximum efficiency
 To reduce complex circuitry.
 To eliminate high cost

Problem analysis.(CLO 2)
 unreliability of Conventional relay system.
 It is Difficult to troubleshoot conventional relay
system.
 Difficult expandability of conventional relay logic.
 Big size of relay system.

COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad campus
Proposed Solution
 PLC is more reliable compared to conventional relay
system?
 PLC is Easy to troubleshoot .
 Easy expandability.
 Smaller Size
