On March 11, 2011 Todd Marks presented The Singularity is Here at SXSW Interactive.
The topic of Singularity is heating up as more people discuss what will become of the human race when computers exceed our intelligence. This presentation explores several theories about the future of mankind and points out how the technology leading us there is already HERE.
“The Singularity is Near” is a book and movie written by futurist and prominent Singularitarian, Ray Kurzweil. It is a documentary with a B-line drama where Ray’s digital alter ego Ramona sets off on a quest to pass the Turing Test. Passing this test signifies the day computers can “think”, which came close to occurring a few years ago and is not far off.
Learn what milestones we have already reached toward Singularity and what technologies present and future are leading us there. We will explore Location Based Services, Augmented Reality, Bio-Feedback and Smart Agents. We will analyze current trends in Bio-Technology, Nano-Technology, Computing and Robotics and discuss the possibility of Digital Immortality.
We are just at the start exploring the opportunities of the Internet, with 90% or more of the possibilities still unexplored! Over three billion new minds are soon going to connect to the global network. The challenges of decentralization and distribution of previously hierarchical and centralized functions are revolutionizing the design of services. The exponential technologies, with their characteristic unpredictability, are disrupting industries that previously thought themselves immune to the digital revolution. What are the strategies to be able to leverage the new waves of technology? How can we quickly revise experiments creating virtuous circles of evolution? In today's hyper-connected world there are no barriers to entry and the distance between idea and action is reduced to zero!
Knowledge From Crowds - Better with Institutions + AlgorithmsShaun Abrahamson
Crowds can support learning and knowledge creation. A framework using institutions and algorithms can help assure good outcomes - Wikipedia, Edx.org and Giffgaff are used to explain the framework.
Presentation for KM 2012 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
We come across dozens of design breakthroughs and technological innovations daily--so many that it's easy to miss important trends emerging in the chaos all around us and not connect the dots to see the BIG picture.
Here at The Institute for Customer Experience (ICE), we understand the business and design value of capturing the right trend insights at the right moment. We observe and analyse trends in design, technology, and business, and keep our fingers on the pulse of the global zeitgeist. In this series of trendbriefs, we bring you alerts on what's trending in our world and their possible impact on our future.

1 billion people will be displaced from uninhabitable land and food and water shortages will occur worldwide, leading to social breakdown and outright chaos.
Over the next 10 years the world of work is set to rapidly change, with the World Economic Forum predicting that disruptive changes to business models will have a profound impact on the employment landscape in the coming years
2020 was a year like no other. Instead of a big year for climate action and progress on other sustainability issues, the world was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout. As we look ahead, there are signs of hope.
We look to the big moments, trends and people that will shape the world in 2021. For the 18th annual Stories to Watch, WRI President and CEO Andrew Steer shared insights into why 2021 could set a foundation for a cleaner, sustainable and more equitable future.

TVA p3 00 True Value Accounting for better Triple Bottom Line managementPeter Burgess
The Triple Bottom Line ... PEOPLE, PLANET and PROFIT ... is being talked about more and more, but the system of metrics used in to manage corporate performance remains based on conventional money profit double entry accountancy. This works very well for corporate profit performance and the money dimension of the socio-enviro-economic system, but totally ignores the important everything to do with the prosperity of people, the health of the society and the sustainability of the natural systems. True Value Accounting is designed to be as rigorous about impact on people / society and impact on environment / nature / planet as conventional accounting is rigorous about money transactions and profit.

The core concept is about reexamining our economic premise of hard capital costs being dematerialized by new efficiencies. Now, given that we have innovated ourselves out of the institutional lender role, why should we still incur recurring costs? Why can't we not adapt our economic operating systems to flow like our 360˚ cradle to cradle manufacturing systems? When we follow nature's recursive patterns, and follow our inner truths, the possibilities can be more than promising!

Natural Capital is the foundation for everything, and for most of human history man made activities were small relative to the planet and its natural capital. This is not so any more and everything about natural capital is now stressed and out of its natural equilibrium. This has to change in a significant way. Merely reducing the growth of stress is not enough. Substantial remediation efforts need to be made as well.

Explaining the transition from the existing economic paradigm of extraction to the next one of regeneration with decentralized solutions. Banking is the largest industry, debt is their most profitable product, yet NOW creativity is the new capital, making the old "middle man" premise of value exchange obsolete!
The UnManifesto
3 Lenses for tuning into the frequency of a unified humanity
Our operating systems are failing us. Our regionally scarce past had confused our selfishness as solutions. Solutions that now present more problems than they solve. Prosperity with poverty, productivity with pollution, the fat and sick gorging on the weak and starving, while the underlying methods behind the madness go ignored. So, we continue running our world with the ideas and “isms” that benefit one group over another, expressed with manifestos...that separate us even more!
Destroying our world to chase imaginary wealth does not make sense to anyone now...not even to those who now run the game. We simply cannot fix these problems with the same thinking that had created them. This is now the time for us to grow up, reorganize ourselves with the understanding of our true nature, and tap into the deeper wisdom we have had all along.
Now is the time for our UNMANIFESTO
Join us in co-creating the next evolutionary epic of open ideas, sustainable innovations and culture hacks from around the world to your doorstep. Everyone is invited to solve our own real, local problems without the ideological trappings of the past that got us here, and with the collective wisdom of all of us. Together, we can co-create a sustainable and abundant reality that reverbs and replicates itself everywhere...starting with you. You are the revolution, and this is NOW (Facebook/nowisus)
The second presentation for the book examining why we look at our debt based market ecosystem numbers as finite while assuming that human and natural capital are infinite. Suggesting solutions for crowd sourced development of new energy innovations featured in the book to stop the madness!
