Alzheimer’s Research
Alzheimer’s disease being the kind of illness known for
affecting brain and making it to have gradual corrosion
generally to the persons of middle or old age as due to global
relapse of the brain need to be treated or else it will negatively
affect the economy of the county. There are current approaches
that are used for the prevention and control of the disease.
Researchers and healthcare workers are using some of the
factors to ensure that they deal with challenges encountered in
the approaches used in the prevention and control of the
disease. The current methods used are observation of certain
diets, doing exercise and recreational activities among others.
The adoption of some lessons or programs on the kind of food
one should routinely take are used as approaches by researchers
to overcome problems associated with prevention and control of
the Alzheimer’s disease. There are some advices to be made
both in all associations or gathering to pass the necessary
information that all individuals to be encouraged to conduct
regular exercise to avoid Alzheimer’s diseases.
There are some of the approaches that can be used to control
and prevent the disease that can be explored further by
researchers and healthcare workers. There are some of the
pharmaceuticals products that are known for controlling and
preventing the disease when take in the proper timing before its
onset. Some of the intellectual activities can be used by mostly
the elderly and the susceptible population to ensure that it will
prevent the Alzheimer’s disease.
There is some of the relationship between the cardiovascular
risks and the Alzheimer’s diseases. Researchers and healthcare
workers believe that if there would be prevention for infection
by the cardiovascular risks it would led to the prevention and
control of Alzheimer’s diseases.
In conclusion, Alzheimer’s diseases are associated with most of
the cardiovascular risk factors like diabetes, smoking and
hypercholesterolemia among others. A lot has to be done to
ensure that the Alzheimer’s diseases is prevented and controlled
in the world.

LASA 2: Exploring Personality Theories
Part I: Apply the personality theories to your personal life
experience by answering the following questions. (Each
paragraph below should be 200 – 400 words.)
1. The Five Factor Model of Personality: Explain where you fall
on each of the FIVE dimensions or traits in this theory.
Discuss whether you feel you were “born with” this trait or if
you feel this trait developed through experiences in your
environment (such as family experiences or other learning
experiences). Based on your experience, explain whether
personality traits are primarily biological (innate) or
environmental (learned) (Nature vs. Nurture). (1 paragraph)
2. Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory: Describe how
social learning theory played an influence in your own
personality development. Identify whose behavior you modeled
and provide specific details to describe the ways in which their
behavior influenced you. (1 paragraph)
3. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: Identify which stage of
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs you are currently experiencing.
Explain which level you hope to experience in the future. (1
paragaph)
4. Freudian Theory of Personality Structure: Regarding your
own personality functioning, provide an example of how your
own Id, Ego and Superego might all work together to help you
meet your needs and have a successful life. Many
contemporary psychologists disagree with Freud, and do not
believe that the unconscious mind plays an important role in
every day behavior. Based on your readings in psychology, as
well as your own experiences, do you believe that the
unconscious mind is important in everyday life? Why or why
not?” (2 paragraphs)

using APA Style Guidelines)
Part II: Psychological Autobiography
In this course, you have applied several theories and concepts
from psychology to your own life. In this part, you will re-
write the Autobiography submitted in Module 1 using the
material you explored throughout the course.
1. In your Psychological Autobiography, describe your life in a
way that incorporates 12—15 terms and concepts you learned in
this class. You do not need to analyze your struggles in this
assignment, or disclose sensitive material. The purpose of the
assignment is to simply apply the concepts we explored
throughout the course to your own life history in an everyday
manner.
2. In your Psychological Autobiography, you may use any
terms, research, concepts or theories covered in class, however,
you must use terms and ideas from at least five (5) of the
following theorists or perspectives:
· Piaget
· Erikson
· Kohlberg
· Eysenck
· Bandura
· Maslow
· Freud
There is room for creativity in this assignment! What is most
important is that you show the instructor how much you have
learned in this course by applying several theories, terms or
concepts to your life story. At a minimum, you should use
information from your readings in this portion of the paper.
This portion of the LASA assignment should be 2 – 3 pages in
length. Here are some suggestions for developing your
Psychological Autobiography:
· Write your life history according to one or more of the
developmental stage theories.
· Apply key concepts to your early development.
· Explain how the concepts apply to your current life situation.
Please Write Your Psychological Autobiography in the space
below, according the directions above. Remember to write 2 –
3 pages for this portion of the assignment.

Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s disease is the kind of illness that affects brain and
causes progressive deterioration mostly to the individuals of
middle or old age as a result of generalized relapse of the brain.
There were traditional methods that were used for the
prevention of the Alzheimer’s disease. Many healthcare workers
had to use various methods for its prevention of the diseases
since its traditional methods were not functional (Pope, Shue &
Beck, 2003). The traditional methods being used were; playing
music, storytelling session, pet remedy, and art remedy among
others.
Since there were many challenges facing these traditional
methods for prevention of the diseases making healthcare
workers to work hard to overcome? Traditional methods for the
prevention were unrealistic and not reliable; hence it led to the
healthcare workers to overcome this by suggesting more
practicable methods like diet being feed to the susceptible
population. since old methods were not applicable to the
susceptible and infected patients methods, like music was not
used by all since most of these age individual have hearing
problems; healthcare workers were involved in such of
preventive ways on their own to prevent disease and advocated
for research being conducted on brains of the affected
individual to know the cause so s to prevent it (Daviglus,
Plassman, Pirzada, Bell, Bowen, Burke & Williams, 2011).
With the current approaches to prevention and control of the
Alzheimer’s disease there are many issues arising from such
methods. The current methods used are observation of certain
diets, doing exercise and recreational activities among others.
All these methods are assumed to act as the current approaches
to prevention and control of the disease (Neurology, 1190).
The main problems associated with the current methods are that;
all the recommended diet to be taken for the prevention of the
disease is may not be readily available to the susceptible and
affected populations. Most of the middle and old individuals are
unable to conduct exercises on their own making this approach
unattainable. Not every individual is in a position to afford the
recreational services hence it can’t be used for convenient.

Case Design Control Study
Hypothesis
The researchers hypothesized that the comparative impact
of emerging risk factors including abdominal obesity, glucose
abnormalities, homocysteine as well as other psychological and
nutritional factors and convectional risk factors such as
diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol and smoking for
cardiovascular diseases are different from people with varying
geographic and ethnic origins. Furthermore, only 50% of these
cases can be linked to the risk factors through conventional
wisdom (Yusuf et al., 2004).
Definition of Cases
The study involved selection of patients admitted to a
coronary care unit or a related cardiology ward for their first MI
in 52 countries throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia,
Australia, Africa, North America and South America in 262
participating centres(Yusuf et al., 2004).
The Number of Cases
From the research, the researchers selected 15152 cases from 52
countries of patients with acute myocardial infarction (Yusuf et
al., 2004).
Definition and Selection of Controls
In the same manner as the selection of cases was done- in
the 262 participating centres for patience having their first MI
in 52 countries- matching controls were also recruited. The
controls were matched by their ages-less or more than five years
as well as their respective sexes(Yusuf et al., 2004).
The Number of Controls
In the study, 14820 controls were selected (Yusuf et al., 2004).
Inclusion or Exclusion Criteria
In the selection of incident cases, patients who qualified
for the study included only those patients who were enrolled in
the coronary care unit within 24 hours of the onset of
symptoms. The controls were required to have no medical
history of having heart disease (Yusuf et al., 2004).
Exposure of Interest
The study targeted patients with known exposure to
cigarette smoking, hypertension, diabetes, abdominal obesity,
exercise, psychological factors, alcohol intake, daily
consumption of fruits and vegetables and a combination of all
these factors(Yusuf et al., 2004).
Where and How the Information of Exposure was obtained
Information of patient exposures was obtained from
questionnaires, medical data and through standard physical
measurements (Yusuf et al., 2004).
Participants with a Positive History
Among the selected participants, only 12, 461 cases and
9,459 controls had positive results (Yusuf et al., 2004).
Measure of Association
The association strength between the AMI and risk factors
was approximated by odds ratio (OR). Additionally, the
researchers investigated the variations in associations with
regards to the age, sex, ethnic region and geographic region so
as to quantify the effect of each risk factor singly and combined
with populace risk following the calculations by the Population
Attributable Risk (PAR) (Yusuf et al., 2004).

There are some advices to be made both in all associations or gathering to pass the necessary information that all individuals to be encouraged to conduct regular exercise to avoid Alzheimer’s diseases. There are some of the approaches that can be used to control and prevent the disease that can be explored further by researchers and healthcare workers. There are some of the pharmaceuticals products that are known for controlling and preventing the disease when take in the proper timing before its onset. Some of the intellectual activities can be used by mostly the elderly and the susceptible population to ensure that it will prevent the Alzheimer’s disease. There is some of the relationship between the cardiovascular risks and the Alzheimer’s diseases. Researchers and healthcare workers believe that if there would be prevention for infection by the cardiovascular risks it would led to the prevention and control of Alzheimer’s diseases. In conclusion, Alzheimer’s diseases are associated with most of the cardiovascular risk factors like diabetes, smoking and hypercholesterolemia among others. A lot has to be done to ensure that the Alzheimer’s diseases is prevented and controlled in the world.

LASA 2: Exploring Personality Theories Part I: Apply the personality theories to your personal life experience by answering the following questions. (Each paragraph below should be 200 – 400 words.)
  • 4. 1. The Five Factor Model of Personality: Explain where you fall on each of the FIVE dimensions or traits in this theory. Discuss whether you feel you were “born with” this trait or if you feel this trait developed through experiences in your environment (such as family experiences or other learning experiences). Based on your experience, explain whether personality traits are primarily biological (innate) or environmental (learned) (Nature vs. Nurture). (1 paragraph) 2. Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory: Describe how social learning theory played an influence in your own personality development. Identify whose behavior you modeled and provide specific details to describe the ways in which their behavior influenced you. (1 paragraph) 3. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: Identify which stage of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs you are currently experiencing. Explain which level you hope to experience in the future. (1 paragaph)
  • 5. 4. Freudian Theory of Personality Structure: Regarding your own personality functioning, provide an example of how your own Id, Ego and Superego might all work together to help you meet your needs and have a successful life. Many contemporary psychologists disagree with Freud, and do not believe that the unconscious mind plays an important role in every day behavior. Based on your readings in psychology, as well as your own experiences, do you believe that the unconscious mind is important in everyday life? Why or why not?” (2 paragraphs) References (Please list your references for this assignment using APA Style Guidelines) Part II: Psychological Autobiography In this course, you have applied several theories and concepts from psychology to your own life. There were traditional methods that were used for the prevention of the Alzheimer’s disease. Many healthcare workers had to use various methods for its prevention of the diseases since its traditional methods were not functional (Pope, Shue & Beck, 2003). The traditional methods being used were; playing music, storytelling session, pet remedy, and art remedy among others. Since there were many challenges facing these traditional methods for prevention of the diseases making healthcare
  • 8. workers to work hard to overcome? Traditional methods for the prevention were unrealistic and not reliable; hence it led to the healthcare workers to overcome this by suggesting more practicable methods like diet being feed to the susceptible population. since old methods were not applicable to the susceptible and infected patients methods, like music was not used by all since most of these age individual have hearing problems; healthcare workers were involved in such of preventive ways on their own to prevent disease and advocated for research being conducted on brains of the affected individual to know the cause so s to prevent it (Daviglus, Plassman, Pirzada, Bell, Bowen, Burke & Williams, 2011). With the current approaches to prevention and control of the Alzheimer’s disease there are many issues arising from such methods. The current methods used are observation of certain diets, doing exercise and recreational activities among others. All these methods are assumed to act as the current approaches to prevention and control of the disease (Neurology, 1190). The main problems associated with the current methods are that; all the recommended diet to be taken for the prevention of the disease is may not be readily available to the susceptible and affected populations. Most of the middle and old individuals are unable to conduct exercises on their own making this approach unattainable. Not every individual is in a position to afford the recreational services hence it can’t be used for convenient.

  • 10. nutritional factors and convectional risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol and smoking for cardiovascular diseases are different from people with varying geographic and ethnic origins. Furthermore, only 50% of these cases can be linked to the risk factors through conventional wisdom (Yusuf et al., 2004). Definition of Cases The study involved selection of patients admitted to a coronary care unit or a related cardiology ward for their first MI in 52 countries throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, Africa, North America and South America in 262 participating centres(Yusuf et al., 2004). The Number of Cases From the research, the researchers selected 15152 cases from 52 countries of patients with acute myocardial infarction (Yusuf et al., 2004). Definition and Selection of Controls In the same manner as the selection of cases was done- in the 262 participating centres for patience having their first MI in 52 countries- matching controls were also recruited. The controls were matched by their ages-less or more than five years as well as their respective sexes(Yusuf et al., 2004). The Number of Controls In the study, 14820 controls were selected (Yusuf et al., 2004). Inclusion or Exclusion Criteria In the selection of incident cases, patients who qualified for the study included only those patients who were enrolled in the coronary care unit within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms. The controls were required to have no medical history of having heart disease (Yusuf et al., 2004). Exposure of Interest The study targeted patients with known exposure to cigarette smoking, hypertension, diabetes, abdominal obesity, exercise, psychological factors, alcohol intake, daily consumption of fruits and vegetables and a combination of all these factors(Yusuf et al., 2004).
  • 11. Where and How the Information of Exposure was obtained Information of patient exposures was obtained from questionnaires, medical data and through standard physical measurements (Yusuf et al., 2004). Participants with a Positive History Among the selected participants, only 12, 461 cases and 9,459 controls had positive results (Yusuf et al., 2004). Measure of Association The association strength between the AMI and risk factors was approximated by odds ratio (OR). Additionally, the researchers investigated the variations in associations with regards to the age, sex, ethnic region and geographic region so as to quantify the effect of each risk factor singly and combined with populace risk following the calculations by the Population Attributable Risk (PAR) (Yusuf et al., 2004).
