To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Tony Dutra and I’m CEO of Dutra Land & Consulting Services, Inc. (www.dutraland.com). I
worked at HP’s Corporate Headquarters from 1980 – 1992. I believe my last eight years of that was
managing the Corporate Computing Center on “C” level. I have fond memories of my time at HP. I recall
meeting Mr. Packard and his wife as well as Mr. Hewlett, receiving a quality improvement award from the
CEO, John Young at the time, being flown in your corporate jet and being sent to various events where HP
provided my accommodations. More than that, I remember the wonderful environment I worked in and
most importantly the people.
It is important that you understand that I don’t normally provide these types of recommendations. In fact,
I can only think of two times I’ve done this in the last decade, and this is one of those. I only do this if my
praise of an individual is sincere, and has been earned over time.
I’ve known Aspasia Normantas for more than two decades and worked closely with her at HP. I will break
down my thoughts as follows:
The individual: When I look to hire someone, it is the content of their character that is my first priority.
Who are they, what is their work ethic etc. The content of her character is beyond reproach. She is as
honest and hardworking an individual as you will ever meet. She takes her job seriously and gives her all
whatever the task. I use to go into the management meetings where we would rank the employees and
decide if they should get a raise, if so, how much and ancillary issues. I never heard one negative item
ever brought up about her. Instead, management talked about what a great individual she is, how
wonderfully she works with others, how she is very giving of her time to help and train others, and the
high, and ever increasing level of her technical expertise. She is a true professional in every sense of the
word.
Technical Skills: She provided technical support to the Corporate Computing Center which I managed.
Her manager at that time was Dan Cruz. He was a great individual of high stature at HP and did not suffer
fools gladly. I had nothing but the greatest respect for him as a man and a manager. For him to hire
Aspasia should tell you all you need to know about her as a person and the extremely high level of her
technical skills. Her response to our technical issues was prompt as was the resolution of those issues.
She was never one to be satisfied with the level of her knowledge and skills. She routinely strived to
improve those over time and did exactly that.
Bottom line: You would be fortunate to hire/have her and would be making a monumental mistake in
not doing so. Again, I take the content of my character seriously and rarely send this type of
recommendation out to others. I do not take it lightly.
My recommendation: Hire her immediately. Please feel free to call me.
