Freightlinter’s New Cascadia Line Will Offer Solar Panel System
- 1. FREIGHTLINTER’S NEW CASCADIA LINE WILL OFFER SOLAR PANEL SYSTEM Tri-National Inc
- 2. Introduction Based in Earth City, Missouri, Tri-National, Inc., uses modern tractors and trailers to provide uninterrupted trucking services to clients in the central corridor of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. To ensure its clients can keep track of their shipments, Tri- National, Inc., equips its vehicles with such technology as satellite tracking systems and keeps up with other leading-edge industry technology. Recently, Freightliner, a major truck manufacturer, announced that its new Cascadia Class 8 truck line will feature an optional solar panel system. Known as eCharge, this solar system was created by eNow to help the trucking industry become more sustainable and modern. Prior to this, Freightliner had already added the eCharge system to some of its existing fleets. Those trucks with the system installed showed positive results in terms of energy consumption and production, thus prompting the company to add eCharge as a pre- delivery option for its new sleeper truck line.
- 3. Cascadia Line The eCharge system’s solar panel is 0.125 inches thick and will bend to fit the shape of the raised roof of the trucks in the Cascadia Class 8 line. According to eNow, fuel consumption among trucks with the eCharge system is three gallons less than average per day. Further, truck battery life can be extended by anywhere from six months to three years thanks to the continual charges that the eCharge system provides. These benefits can help reduce the operating costs and emissions coming from trucks on the road.
