Last week, I invited you to complete an online survey to help me learn about what kinds of things
you are working on, including the kinds of challenges you’re dealing with in your business.
Thanks so much to each of you who took the time to respond!
On the following pages, I’ve summarized a few of the nuggets that I’ve noted from your
comments.
Where appropriate, I’ve also posed additional questions for you to reflect upon.
I hope that by inquiring a bit more deeply, you’ll gain additional inspiration that moves you
forward in your business endeavors.
Interesting Insights from the
2015 Freedompreneur Survey!
Not surprisingly, a large number of you told me that the
main reason you wanted to start your own business is for,
yes, FREEDOM!!!
“Why did you/do you want to start
your own business?”
Freedom means different things to different people.
More specifically, what does freedom look and feel
like to you?
(I invite you to take a moment, reflect on this
question and even jot down some notes or bullet
points.)
31% of you are just starting out, being in business less
than 1 year.
I was shocked to learn that another 31% of you have
been in business for over 20 years. (One of you has been
in one business or another for 50 years!!!)
19% have been in business for 5-15 years.
Another surprising stat: 10% have been in business for 1-
5 years. (I thought this % would have been a lot higher.)
These results are further proof not to assume anything
about your audience: If you had asked me beforehand, I
would have guessed that at least 65% of the
Freedompreneur community was just starting out. Based
on your responses, only 50% of you have young
businesses (less than 5 years in business).

“What about your business keeps you up at night
or do you wake up early in the morning thinking about?”
A whopping 40% of you are losing sleep over getting more clients.

It’s a universal issue, isn’t it?
How many clients, and at what particular price point, do you really
need?
Getting more specific about the answer to this question may help you sleep better…
72% want more and better clients and/or to make more money (or
mentioned something related to these).
“If you could wave a realistic magic wand,
what’s the most important thing for you to
achieve over the next 12 months?”
I’m wondering something here…
If your life depended on it, could you get more
than enough clients over the next 12 months
to more than meet your needs (in other words,
to create surplus)?
If you answered “yes”…
…what’s stopping you?
Too much attention and energy spent chasing bright,
shiny objects.
Is this what is stopping you???
Not enough attention and energy focused on taking
consistent actions that produce remarkable results.

“Getting systems in place to grow strategically.”
Am I on the right track?
Surprisingly, only 49% wrote that you wanted to learn more about how to
make more money, as in “profit.”
In an earlier question, 72% mentioned getting more and better clients and/or
making more money (or phrasing related to these).
I could be wrong here, but I think what you’re saying is that you want to make
more money and you know you need to get more and better clients to work
with you.
But you don’t really want to deal with the money side of your business.
“Anything else I ought to know about that I didn’t think to ask?”
This question led to a goldmine of responses!
With comments like these, you gave me a boatload of fuel for future
discussions:
• “I’m good at my core skills. It’s always been the business of running a
business that slows me down.”
• “How to decide where to focus my energy when there are so many potential
avenues.”
• “Right now, I feel like I have worked myself into a job. I'm not sure what the
next steps are for me.”
• “Where to devote your initial limited resources of time and money, for
maximum impact to get the right type of clients from the start?”
I’ve been considering doing this for years; now may
be the time!
One of you suggested that I start an
“Ask George” Q&A series.
Thanks to you, I now have a treasure trove of responses to use as starter material!
Thanks for participating in the 2015 Freedompreneur Survey!
