Major social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have increasingly censored certain types of political speech, threatening democracy and freedom of expression. They determine what information reaches the public and can manipulate people's political views. Recently Twitter banned then-President Trump's account and Apple/Google removed conservative social network Parler from their app stores, showing these companies' growing power to control the flow of information and ideas. If left unchecked, monopolistic tech giants could end up dictating political discourse and limiting individuals' ability to make their own judgments about what to read and believe.

The freedom of speech is one of the things that resulted most injured this year 2021.This happens
through many ways. One of them is allowing Great Corporations to control the way a new or idea is
distributed in today’s civilization, only permitting bias news to reach the general public and censoring
other news that may represent a threat to their political interests. Another way is through deleting or
censoring rising social networks that allow freedom of speech like Parler. These actions enable companies
like Facebook, Twitter, and other main news networks, to control political environment in the upcoming
years, representing a threat to democracy, and also a rising new era of monopolies, that might be able to
take control of the future of our civilization.
In the last 4 years we have been able to witness the capacity of influence that many companies like
Facebook or Twitter have in our lives. By not only being able to collect private information from us, but
also by selecting what to show and what not to show, they are able to disrupt the way an individual may
perceive its environment. Seeding an idea may lead into a great change in personal way of thinking.
Usually this was used for commercial uses, but in the late years this has been used to manipulate political
thinking of the user. By doing this they are able to indirectly give an advantage to a political candidate of
their choice or interest.
Have a look of what happened with George Floyd, when the unfortunate event of Mr. Floyd’s dead
happened, main social networks and News networks erupted publicizing this tragedy, calling not for
justice but for anarchy and riots. Twitter even claimed this as a trending topic and sent notifications of
this new to all users of the network. But during the 2021 capitol march, a woman was killed by the police,
and this new was not covered by these Bias networks, and if someone try to post something regarding
this incident, Twitter censored them and even ban their account. This last action represent a clear
violation to the freedom of speech, and also goes against the constitution, in which they are acting as
publishers and not as information distributors.
Another example of this dangerous action happened years ago when twitter allowed the publication of
many confidential files that were stolen from individuals, companies or governments, an action in which
these files were obtained through hacking the personal devices. But just 7 months ago, we were able to
witness how Facebook and twitter censored, banned or lockdown posts, and account of people clamming
acts of corruption by the former vice president Joseph Biden. There was many evidence of these acts, and
even though the evidence was acquired through legal means these mob networks censored the people
trying to expose the corruption.
About a week ago we observed how twitter suspended and banned a public account of the POTUS, an
account held by the president of the US, only because he was expressing his concerns of the political
situation of the country. It’s not needed to mention that in other political terms this account had been
used to announce acts of violence such as the starting of a war, or many other violent events. If they are
able to censor one of the most important people of the world with little to no consequence, they are able
to block, ban, censor you a normal citizen.
More alarming is the fact that this mob is able to control other new born and rising networks. These
happened 1 week ago with Parler, a social network made to allow freedom of speech. Because this
network represented a way of spreading information that may threat their interest, companies like Apple
and Google, took it down from their app stores. This decreases the amount of information a individual
may read, only allowing biased news to reach the consumer. And reinforcing the idea that only these great

companies have the control over the distribution of information. Individuals must be able to decide what
to read and where to gather information.
These two acts (censoring people that think different and deleting other social networks that allow sharing
of these news) represent a way of mass control, giving these companies a great power that already
overcome one of the most powerful countries of the planet. These acts of monopoly are illegal just like
happened with Vanderbilt and Rockefeller many years ago. We the people must tread upon these
companies that harm the future of our civilization. Harm our capacity to discern between what’s right or
wrong. And to choose by ourselves what path to follow, our political interests, our preferences and most
important our way of thinking. Is up to us decide if we are going to allow them control of your lives and
future.
