Francine Parham, chairperson of Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art in Newark, New Jersey, attended the Governing for Nonprofit Excellence program at Harvard Business School to help lead her organization through a critical period while keeping trustees, staff, and stakeholders engaged. She found hearing from case study organizations and examples of elevating strategy discussions most useful. Since the program, Parham has driven trustee accountability and engagement at Aljira, conducted workshops on developing nonprofit networks, and was invited to participate in Newark's "In Good Company" learning circle for nonprofit leaders due to her accomplishments. She credits the program experience with providing leadership opportunities and an instant resource network.
