 In this shot we start to see where the opening is set and the
décor of where she is. As we can see that the decor looks old
fashioned and everything looks dirty. The lighting of the film is
quite dark, to create the mood of the scene. It also builds
tension, to reel the audience in to the film and make them
want to continue watching.
 This shot is a medium shot as we can not see below her waist
but can see everything above. In this shot we can see from her
facial expressions that she is scared and confused because she
is exploring a house which seems to be haunted.
 Once again this is a medium shot as we can not see below her
waist. This shot is the main character to the side of the shot.
This suggests that we don’t have to focus on her but we have to
focus what’s on the right of shot (what’s behind her). As she is
on the side of the shot, it creates tension because we can infer
something is going to happen behind her.
 This shot is a medium long shot as we can see them from their
head to toe with little space above their head and below their
feet. This creates a lot of tension as she is standing in front of 4
dead people in dark lighting.
 This is an over the shoulder shot of the character staring at the
nun. This creates tension as we can see that the woman is
shocked. We can tell that something is about to happen as the
nun is right next to the woman.
 This a close up of the character emotions. We can clearly tell
that she has been scared by something. As for most of the
opening scene the lighting is dark to create the mood of the
film. The dark lighting can give us a hint that something scary
has happened.
 This is shot is a two shot/medium close up. In this shot, the
lighting is completely different. As we can see the lighting is
bright, this could suggest that everything is going back to
normal. Her facial emotions are still scared as she still might
be recovering from what has been happening in the previous
shot.
 This shot is a medium shot/two shot. In this shot there is
bright lighting created by light through the window and the
candles in the background. The layout of the room suggests
that they are doing something to prove a point – hence the
camera on the left of the shot. We can also see in this shot the
emotion of the characters. The man seems worried and the
woman seems scared so this can suggest that the woman has
had a vision and has seen something.
 This is an over the shoulder shot of the male character. This is
used to show us that they are having a conversation about
something that has happened. This can also be seen as a close
up as we can see clearly the emotion in the face of the female
character.
