When I comment I will…..
Follow these guidelines to help build this
online community where we respect each
other and treat each other how we would
like to be treated.
#1
I will always imagine
I am talking to the
person directly
#2
I will never write
anything I would
never say to a
person if they were
standing right in front
of you. I will always
be polite, respectful
& courteous.
#3
I will begin with
complementing the
writer to make a
connection with
them and give a
flow to the
discussion. For
example: "I agree
Meg, I too think..... Is
important. What
you said has made
me think......"
#4
I will write 2 or more
sentences and end
with a question to
keep the
conversation
flowing.
I will use Standard
English and
punctuation so it is
easy to read.
#5
I will end my
comment by signing
off my first name.
Rules to Protect me…..
Rules to protect
me…..
I will protect my
privacy. I will ask
myself: Could
someone find me (in
real life) based on
the information I am
sharing?
Rules to protect
me…..
So this means I will....
 Always use first names
only.
 Never give any other
details such as where I
live, my phone or email
address, specific
plans, date of
birth, school name or any
other personal
information.
 Never share any specifics
of my daily routines that
involve time and location
(e.g. where my next
dance class or soccer
match is).
Rules to protect
me…..
I will always attribute
the work of others
and NEVER use
images, pictures
without permission or
acknowledgement.
Rules to protect
me…..
I will only post things
that I want everyone
(in school, at
home, in other
countries) to know.
I will ask myself: Is this
something I want
everyone to see?
Rules to protect
me…..
I will think before I
post. I will proof
read my comment
prior to posting to
check my TONE and
Content by asking
myself the following
questions...
Rules to protect
me…..
What could be the
consequences of
this post?
Rules to protect
me…..
Who is going to look
at this, and how are
they going to
interpret my words?
Rules to protect
me…..
Do I have a good
reason/purpose to
do this?
Rules to protect
me…..
Would I want this
post to be graded
for proper grammar
and spelling?
