Social Perception Research Topic Proposal
Social personal perception is the way a person perceives and understands issues. This is an interesting topic to do research because people are different, and they perceive issues from an array of viewpoints. For my research proposal, the topic I would like to investigate is the determinants of social perception. My main objective is to identify and determine the various factors that determine how people perceive issues. I have seen how people, cultures, nationalities can perceive the same action in different ways, such as kneeling during the National Anthem at professional football games. Upon preliminary research, some literature that I read claimed that both internal and external factors determine a person’s perception. My research shall highlight on pointing out the various internal and external factors, as well as clarifying how these factors shapes and forms the perception that the person show.

How do reasonable people go along with unreasonable ideas, including mass suicide? How do charismatic leaders create their own “culture” within a specific situation and setting and then bring followers along? It is unsettling to consider that researchers have found that almost anyone will obey orders if placed in the right situation.
For this Assignment, you will explore the role of conformity and social influence in the dynamics of a cult. Keep in mind the definition of “culture” as you examine how a powerful leader can create a distinct culture, or “cult,” that others join and follow: a set of attitudes, behaviors, and symbols shared by a large group of people (Shiraev & Levy, 2017, p. 4) .

What causes people to be drawn to one another? What happens when one experiences rejection? Human beings are wired for relationships. Unlike some species that do not organize socially, such as koalas and jaguars, humans need relationships. We are what Baumeister and Bushman refer to as cultural animals, immersing ourselves within social groups. Humans engage in relationships of all kinds from family, acquaintances and friends, to romantic partners. Belonging is a basic human need (Baumeister & Bushman, 2014).

Organizational Culture Theory is based on a metaphor— a creative device to make meaning by comparing two disparate ideas or things. This theory relies on a field of study known as ethnography, which uses qualitative methodologies of investigation. Ethnography involves observations of customs and culture. I read the first article in the Tacoma News Tribune in 2007 when it was originally printed. I remember exactly where I was when I read that article. I was a BRAND NEW social worker (like really, really new, like was in training but hadn't been assigned cases yet). I was so scared that I would miss something and that a child could be harmed to this extent. I was frustrated with the system that I'd only been working at for a few weeks. I was terrified that someone would do this to a child. Five years later I saw two children whose abuser had gone to similar lengths to torture them.
Recently I read another article (Child Torture as a Form of Child Abuse by Barbara L. Knox, Suzanne P. Starling, Kenneth W. Feldman**, Nancy D. Kellogg, Lori D. Frasier & Suzanna (**Dr. Feldman is a well known child abuse specialist at Seattle Children's Hospital) that described over 25 cases of child abuse that the authors felt reached the definition of child torture. " The children in this case series suffered a severe combined type of child abuse including extreme physical and psychological

General Motors wanted to expand its facility, but when the company offered to purchase the property it needed, the owners would not accept the offers. The firm then approached the Detroit Economic Development Corporation with a request that the corporation use its power of eminent domain to acquire a large parcel of land on which members of the plaintiff organization, Poletown Neighborhood Council, resided and had small businesses. Once the corporation had acquired the land, it would be conveyed to General Motors for its plant expansion. The justification for the use of eminent domain was the creation of jobs for the economically depressed area.
The plaintiffs, who did not want their community destroyed, sued the city and the development corporation on the grounds that they were abusing their power of eminent domain to take private property for a private use.

Unlike some species that do not organize socially, such as koalas and jaguars, humans need relationships. We are what Baumeister and Bushman refer to as cultural animals, immersing ourselves within social groups. In this assignment, you will be taking on the role of an ethnologist, using multiple ethnographic accounts to study human behavior and culture.

I read the first article in the Tacoma News Tribune in 2007 when it was originally printed. I remember exactly where I was when I read that article. I was a BRAND NEW social worker (like really, really new, like was in training but hadn't been assigned cases yet). I was so scared that I would miss something and that a child could be harmed to this extent. I was frustrated with the system that I'd only been working at for a few weeks. I was terrified that someone would do this to a child. Five years later I saw two children whose abuser had gone to similar lengths to torture them.
Recently I read another article (Child Torture as a Form of Child Abuse by Barbara L. Knox, Suzanne P. Starling, Kenneth W. Feldman**, Nancy D. Kellogg, Lori D. Frasier & Suzanna (**Dr. Feldman is a well known child abuse specialist at Seattle Children's Hospital) that described over 25 cases of child abuse that the authors felt reached the definition of child torture. " The children in this case series suffered a severe combined type of child abuse including extreme physical and psychological
maltreatment
). Torture goes beyond simple
polyvictimization in that it includes an increased severity ofboth physical and psychological maltreatment. It involves

). What surprised me was that in each case there was a FEMALE caregiver present in the home who was either part of the torture of the child or stood by while it happened. This SHOCKED me to no end.

General Motors wanted to expand its facility, but when the company offered to purchase the property it needed, the owners would not accept the offers. The firm then approached the Detroit Economic Development Corporation with a request that the corporation use its power of eminent domain to acquire a large parcel of land on which members of the plaintiff organization, Poletown Neighborhood Council, resided and had small businesses. Once the corporation had acquired the land, it would be conveyed to General Motors for its plant expansion. The justification for the use of eminent domain was the creation of jobs for the economically depressed area.
The plaintiffs, who did not want their community destroyed, sued the city and the development corporation on the grounds that they were abusing their power of eminent domain to take private property for a private use.

In April 2011, Ravi was indicted on 15 counts, including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation. Wei was offered a plea bargain to testify against Ravi. Neither offender was charged with the death of Tyler Clementi. Questions remain as to whether this was merely a display of cyber-hate or if this incident legally be deemed a hate crime.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling.
