B.Tech Food Technology
Food Technology is a branch of engineering in which the process of manufacturing, the constituents and preservation of
foods are at the areas in which the students are taught in B.Tech Food Technology course. With the passage of time people
are becoming increasingly careful about the quality of food being consumed since maintenance of health is directly
proportional to the nutrition, calorific value, fat content etc. in the food products.
B.Tech Food Technology is considered to be an important subject and the students passing out with degree in Food
Technology has potential of being absorbed in reputed organizations - both national and international. Quality control of food
is an important area of production. Besides, the technique of preservation of food values and the art of packaging for
safeguarding the properties of the food product is essential from hygienic point of view and the engineers are taught about
importance of the customers’ requirements from the time of production till the time of consumption. These engineers learn
about logistics and supply chain management. They also learn about ensuring customers’ satisfaction by maintaining quality of
the food product and delivering at the appointed time without any tempering or pilferage or diminishing food values of the
contents.
Indian food processing industry is growing at rapid pace for the following reasons.
1. The present generation is fond of fast food like Pasta, Bread, Cakes, Pastries etc. and the sale of such products
is increasing by the day.
2. Awareness of the citizens about hygiene has increased manifold and the people are health conscious. Hence
the manufacturers of food items are required to ensure the nutritional value of the food stuff to get a share of
the market.
3. The number of foreign tourist is increasing at high rate and they will accept food products of high quality only.
4. The population of upper class and middle class is at present more than 300 million who are focused on their
professions and do not want to channelize their energy in preparation of foods (specially the ladies). Hence there
is huge demand of packaged foods of high quality as this class can afford the price.
5. The government undertakings are being directed to provide food stuff of high quality in the retail market.
Due to demands projected above, there is ample scope for engineers having degree in Food Technology to find
decent employment in hotels, restaurants, R&D laboratories, food processing industries etc. R & D in Food
Technology ensures production of healthy and nutritious food sought by the customers who believe in
maintaining health and avoiding foods having detrimental effect on the body.
Sanskriti Group of Institutions has introduced the programme in Food Technology by offering the course
of B.Tech. in Food Technology which is a 4 years course approved by AICTE. As has already been mentioned, the
requirement of food technologists is increasing in different related organizations and the scope will be increasing
further with the passage of time. Experts in food technology subjects are employed as faculty members for
imparting necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to the students so that they can perform well after
passing out.

Food technology

  • 2. Food Technology is a branch of engineering in which the process of manufacturing, the constituents and preservation of foods are at the areas in which the students are taught in B.Tech Food Technology course. With the passage of time people are becoming increasingly careful about the quality of food being consumed since maintenance of health is directly proportional to the nutrition, calorific value, fat content etc. in the food products. B.Tech Food Technology is considered to be an important subject and the students passing out with degree in Food Technology has potential of being absorbed in reputed organizations - both national and international. Quality control of food is an important area of production. Besides, the technique of preservation of food values and the art of packaging for safeguarding the properties of the food product is essential from hygienic point of view and the engineers are taught about importance of the customers’ requirements from the time of production till the time of consumption. These engineers learn about logistics and supply chain management. They also learn about ensuring customers’ satisfaction by maintaining quality of the food product and delivering at the appointed time without any tempering or pilferage or diminishing food values of the contents.
  • 3. Indian food processing industry is growing at rapid pace for the following reasons. 1. The present generation is fond of fast food like Pasta, Bread, Cakes, Pastries etc. and the sale of such products is increasing by the day. 2. Awareness of the citizens about hygiene has increased manifold and the people are health conscious. Hence the manufacturers of food items are required to ensure the nutritional value of the food stuff to get a share of the market. 3. The number of foreign tourist is increasing at high rate and they will accept food products of high quality only. 4. The population of upper class and middle class is at present more than 300 million who are focused on their professions and do not want to channelize their energy in preparation of foods (specially the ladies). Hence there is huge demand of packaged foods of high quality as this class can afford the price. 5. The government undertakings are being directed to provide food stuff of high quality in the retail market. Due to demands projected above, there is ample scope for engineers having degree in Food Technology to find decent employment in hotels, restaurants, R&D laboratories, food processing industries etc. R & D in Food Technology ensures production of healthy and nutritious food sought by the customers who believe in maintaining health and avoiding foods having detrimental effect on the body. Sanskriti Group of Institutions has introduced the programme in Food Technology by offering the course of B.Tech. in Food Technology which is a 4 years course approved by AICTE. As has already been mentioned, the requirement of food technologists is increasing in different related organizations and the scope will be increasing further with the passage of time. Experts in food technology subjects are employed as faculty members for imparting necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to the students so that they can perform well after passing out.
