4. Myth #1: You Must Drink a Minimum of 8 Glasses of Water a Day
This popular myth has been doing the rounds for ages
now.
It’s true that water works wonders for your body, but
too much of it can actually damage your liver and
system severely.
Not to mention that water molecules are also found in
food stuffs and other beverages.
5. Myth #2: Olive Oil Is Good Fat
Sure, it’s healthy, but not as healthy as it is hyped to be!
Did you know that olive oil is actually a mixture of many
kinds of natural fats and acids?
Yep! Extra virgin olive oil, frequently touted to be the
healthiest form of it, has 15% saturated fats and 75% oleic
acid, which has been linked to heart disease.
So using lots of it in your food isn’t going to do you any
favours at all.
6. Myth #3: Milk Is the Key to Strong Bones
Sure, milk is rich in calcium, which is good for your bones,
but the myth doesn’t hold.
Milk lacks an important component called vitamin K, which is
actually responsible for making your bones strong.
Since this vitamin is absent in milk, the calcium is not
automatically absorbed by your system.
Vitamin K can be found in leafy vegetables like kale, bok
choy and spinach.
7. Myth #4: Chocolate Is Unhealthy
Wrong! Chocolate, in fact, can do wonders for your
health.
This tasty bar is loaded with antioxidants and
endorphins, which is great for battling stress and lifting
your mood up.
A recent study also showed that daily consumption of
cocoa-flavonol-containing dark chocolate can lower
cholesterol and improve blood pressure.
The next time someone tells you that eating chocolate is
bad for you, tell them to read this.
8. Myth #5: Egg Yolks Should Be Banned from Your Diet
Although most of the protein in egg is indeed found in
the white, there are major misconception about yolk.
Studies show that one large egg contains 3.6 grams of
protein in the white (60%) and an additional 2.7 grams
of protein in the yolk (40%).
Egg yolk is a valuable source of nutrients such as
riboflavin, choline, selenium, vitamin D and vitamin B-
12.
In short, a balance of both is beneficial for your system.
You can definitely include the egg yolk in your diet if you
balance your nutrition chart well.
9. Myth #6: Eating Too Much Sugar Causes Diabetes
Poor diet, irregular exercise, genetics and a lethargic
lifestyle causes type 1 diabetes – sugar is not the cause
of it.
However, including the ingredient in all your food
stuffs can increase the risk of getting it, so caution is
advised
10. Myth #7: Fruit Juices Are Healthier Than Fruits
Fruits here are the real deal! Unlike in
packaged/canned juices, there’s no added fats, sugar or
preservatives, to keep it fresh.
These juices are often adulterated and contain very less
fruit pulp.
If you’re a juice person, we recommend you consume
fresh juice. Make your own at home!
