FOCUS YOUR MICROSCOPE PROPERLY

It is possible to assure focus throughout the zoom range if the following procedure is used:

Working first with Microscope Head A:

Set your pupillary distance by turning the knob by the eyepiece to be sure you are
       1) using both eyepieces. The number between the eyepieces shows you your
pupillary distance so you may set that number each time you use the microscope.

       2) Set the diopter register on each eyepiece to Zero

       3) Zoom to the highest magnification via the Zoom-In control on the footswitch/
       handswitch.

       4) Focus the microscope via the Focus-Up / Focus-Down controls on the
footswitch/handswitch until the image is sharp.

       5) Zoom to the lowest magnification via the Zoom-Out control.

       6) Adjust the diopter register on each eyepiece individually to attain the sharpest
       image.

Head B should then be focused by adjusting the diopter register on each of it's
eyepieces. If the procedure is followed, both surgeons can zoom in and out
       independently without having to refocus.

NOTE: The Z880 Medlink USA Model users have an additional manual B-Side fine
focus. After following the above procedures (1 - 5) the B-Side surgeon can manually
fine tune the focus with the two opposing knobs at the bottom of the B-Side head.
