Super Sabbath Celebration
by Pastor Mike
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it is
about relationships without the pressure of gifts and
rampant materialism that has swallowed Christmas. In
my mind it is the Super Sabbath of the year. The
Sabbath days were a gift from the Lord to turn the
hearts and minds of His people heavenward. They
were intended as a day filled with joy, peace, and
thanksgiving. Sabbath feasting was a big deal for
God's people in Old Testament, New Testament, and
present days. I think Thanksgiving Day is prime for
redeeming as the Super Sabbath of modern day
Christ-followers. What do you think about joining my
family in anticipating the day when King Jesus will
reign and put all things right? Let's not just look
backward with thanksgiving but long forward with
hope!
One obstacle for some families is the feasting part of
things. That's where EFC can have a big part. We are
sponsoring residents at the Family Tree Apartments
who are in a place of financial hardship. Would you
like to be a Thanksgiving Basket Sponsor? We will
receive the names and apartment number of each
family. The best part of it all is we personally deliver
the baskets the weekend before Thanksgiving. We
build relationships, open our lives for these wonderful
folks and preach Jesus - with words when necessary!
Please let me know if you would like to be Jesus with
skin this month!
One other exciting way we are going to anticipate
the day of King Jesus is when we cook and serve a
Thanksgiving dinner on November 12th in the
Community Center. You can sign-up online to
participate in this too!

items to put in your basket. You may include all items

2. OCTOBER REWIND
Family Dinner at the Family Tree. We returned to the
Community Center at the Family Tree Apartments to
serve a free dinner. Tacos were a big hit and the time
talking with the grateful residents was a highlight. It is
a honor to love like Jesus and be His presence with
skin!
Cornmaze Excitement.
The EFC youth
traveled to Bob’s
Cornmaze for a fun
night of cornstalks
and confusion on
October 22nd. We
enjoyed a blanket
of fog and dr y
trails. At the
halfway point Bob
treated us to a cozy
firepit where we
considered whether
God’s word was
truly a lamp to our
lives or just a book
on shelf (aka “app
on our cell phone”).
Family Gathering. We continue to explore God’s Word to
EFC in our weekly times together. Pastor Mike
delivered sermons drawing truth from the life of King
David. We watched the teaching skits - “Amnon is a
Jerk Rewind”, “Israel’s Breaking News at 5 (with
Farmer)” and “When will the King Return? bubble
talk”. It is a joy to explore the riches of the Scriptures
in creative and insightful ways!
Family Fall Festival at the Family Tree Apartments. For our
seventh year we sponsored the Family Fall Festival
with the purpose of providing a free, family event in
which we can build relationships and share the love of
Jesus with others. Thank you to the Lees, Kirshners,
Travises, Bells, Ripleys, Wrights, and Debbie for your
work in this!
Visit the EFC online for a current calendar of
all events, times, and locations.
