The road to
success!
• The FIWARE Foundation is managing the Context Broker CEF
Building Block
• The history of FIWARE started in 2011 with the Future
Internet Public Private Partnership initiated by the European
Commission under FP7 / Horizon 2020
• 500 million Euro private and public funding have been
invested to create a curated framework of open source
components to accelerate the development of smart
solutions
Within this initiative the Context Broker was created and
built as the core component for smart applications
• To provide a sustainable future the FIWARE Foundation was
created on 13 Sept 2016 – now having > 200 members from
all around the world

• A standard for exchange of context information:
FIWARE-NGSI (Next Generation Service
Interface) became ETSI Standard: NGSI-LD
