Obesity rates in New Zealand have increased over time for both men and women across all ethnic groups. Māori and Pacific people have significantly higher rates of obesity than European and Asian people. While obesity rates have increased for all groups between 1997 and 2006/2007, Māori and Pacific people continue to experience the highest levels of obesity.
