The first six minutes after a person goes into
     sudden cardiac arrest will ultimately
determine life or death. However, across
the nation’s 50 largest cities, less than 10%
of savable lives are actually saved.

FirstSix aims to improve survival rates by
     crowdsourcing emergency medical
services (EMS) to the millions of trained
 healthcare professionals who walk among
                  us each day
 EMS response rates in most major US
cities are too slow (5 – 13 min)
 This results in far too many deaths that
  could have otherwise been saved
 Slow response rates are often caused by
  trivial problems such as traffic
  congestion, ambulance turf wars
Imaging the following situation taking place taking place in
a large urban city:
 A young college age student and accomplished runner is out
for a jog on a summer’s evening and collapses on a busy
    street corner
 Bystanders immediately rush to her side and call 9-1-1
 9-1-1 Operator dispatches an ambulance from a nearby
    firehouse
 Given the rush-hour traffic, the ambulance is slowed as the
    patient’s life slowly ticks away
 12 minutes pass before paramedics reach her and
connected a defibrillator to her heart, but by then it was too
    late, she was dead
 Leverage the millions of physicians,
  nurses, and other trained medical
professionals across the US to become
  the first responders
 Geolocation via smart phone allows
integrated 911 personnel to see and
  dispatch the nearest available first
responder in addition to traditional EMS

 Bystanders immediately rush to her side and call 9-1-1
 9-1-1 Operator dispatches an ambulance from a nearby firehouse
 Additionally, the operator is able to see on her system that there are 3
FirstSix pre-certified first responders within a 3 block radius of the fallen
    patient
 The operator dispatches the closest FirstSix first responder to the scene
 While the ambulance is stuck in traffic, the FirstSix first responder arrives
at the scene and is able to deliver CPR to the patient and helps to
triage the situation while awaiting professional paramedics
 The ambulance arrives to transport the patient to the nearby hospital
    for further treatment
 A life is saved
 Over 10 million emergency medical calls are received
each year in major US cities
 The average reported response time from Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMT) ranges anywhere from 5 min
    – 15 min
 The American Heart Association estimate that with
each 1 min passed, chances for heart attack survival
    are decreased by 10%
 Just from sudden heart attacks, over 75,000 savable
lives are lost each year due to slow response
 Millions more suffer prolonged symptoms that could
    have been prevented
