4. Come to class prepared
* Every day you should bring:
|1. Your folder containing homework|
|2. Your planner|
|3. Something to write
with|
5. Do Not Bring Toys, Or Make
Toys
*Bringing toys or making toys is not okay with me.
*If you do bring a toy, it will go in Ms. Silver's Bag of Toys
to Send to Africa.
*Or, if it is a toy you absolutely need back, you will have to
wait for your parent or family member to get it from me.
*Your sibling in middle school does not count as a parent
or family member.
6. Sitting the right way
* Bottom in your chair
* All 4 chair legs on the ground
* Facing the front
* Hands on top
of your desk
7. When you want my attention
* When you need to ask or tell me something, raise your
hand.
* NEVER call out "Ms. Silver."
* NEVER tap me.
8. Getting out of your seat
You have to ask me before you get out of your seat.
9. |Math Centers|
Math centers are 15 to 20 minutes each and happen after
Writing.
You may talk softly during math centers.
10. Reading Centers
Reading Centers are about 20 minutes each. We don't
start these until after lunch now.
There is NO talking during reading centers. At all. Unless
you are sitting with me. Nobody can concentrate on
reading if you are talking or playing around.
11. When the intercom comes on
or if the phone rings
BE SILENT!
*If you are talking, I cannot hear the
person talking.
12. Speaking with respect
* I will speak to you with respect so I expect you to speak
to me with respect.
* Use manners - Please, Thank You, Excuse Me, Sorry
*Let's talk about some
examples of the difference
between respect and
disrespect.
13. When you think something is
unfair
* Explain why you think something is unfair calmly and
respectfully.
* Yelling, putting your head down, trying to hurt someone,
or using inappropriate language will get you nowhere.
14. How to get in line
* We will always line up in ABC order, no matter where
we're going.
* When lining up in the classroom, from recess, the
cafeteria, Art, or anywhere else, you will find your spot in
line as quickly as you can and stand and wait silently until
we are ready to start walking.
15. Walking in line
|* This is a silent time.
|* Our line will be straight no matter where we
are going.|
|* No talking to me or asking me questions in line.|
16. Talking in class
I understand that you are friends with each
other and like to tell each other stories.
Our classroom is NOT the place to gossip.
Save your stories for recess and lunch.
17. Staying clean
* DO NOT keep food in your desk or eat in the classroom,
unless it's a special occasion and we're all eating. Food is
okay in a lunch box.
* When there is something on the floor around your desk,
pick it up.
* Always clear your desk before we leave the room.
18. Teacher Assistants (T.A.)
* Every day there will be a different T.A.
* The T.A. will
|1. Pass out papers|
|2. Collect papers|
|3. Run errands|
|4. Move the name chart after school.|
|5. Tidy the library at the end of the day.|
* Everyone will get a chance at being the T.A. We will go
alphabetically.
* If you misbehave and you are the T.A. you will be fired.
19. AR Time
* AR time is a time where you can sit back, relax and read
a good book.
* You can also use this time to take AR tests
* This is a silent time.
21. My Rug
*It is also VERY IMPORTANT that my rug is always flat
and straight.
*If we are getting in line and you notice that it isn't, fix it for
me. I would greatly appreciate it.
22. What if you need to use the
bathroom?
* Every student is allowed to leave the classroom to go to
the bathroom one time per day unless you have a note
from a doctor saying you need to go more times.
* You can go before school starts, during recess, lunch, or
after school. So you should only need to leave the
classroom once at the most.
*You must SIGN OUT on
the board next to your name
with the time you left.
23. If you are absent
* I will give you what you missed, and you must turn it on
the date I tell you. It depends on how long you were gone
and how much you missed.
25. Bullying is never okay
*If someone hurts you or makes you feel bad, tell a
teacher. Always.
*NEVER solve an argument by fighting.
26. Communicating with your
parents/families
I have many ways to talk to your parents:
*Your planner
*Your parents' phones
*Your parents' email addresses
*The CCSE 4th Grade Website
*Edline
*And I even have the address to your house
*So, if there is something I need to tell them, I will find a
way.
27. If we have a Fire Drill
* Stop what you are doing, get in line in ABC order
silently, and wait for me to signal where to go.
28. Going to the Computer Lab
*When we go there, I will tell you which computer to sit at.
29. Going to the Computer lab
*Once you are sitting at your computer, I will tell you how
to log in and what to click on.
*All you have to do is sit and wait.
*Please do not start typing or messing with the mouse or
keyboard.
30. Going to the Computer Lab
*IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, SIMPLY RAISE YOUR
HAND. DO NOT YELL "MINES NOT WORKING!!!!!"
*Only use the computer for what I tell you we are
using it for.
*Do not attempt to show me a game online.
31. Going to the Computer Lab
*When you are done with the test, sit quietly.
*You don't have to wave your hands in the air to tell me
you're done because I'll be able to see your screen.
*Once time is up, we will line up and leave the computer
lab exactly how we found it.
32. Any questions?
"Those who ask a question are a fool for
five minutes; those who don't ask a
question remain a fool forever." - Chinese
