This document provides a tutorial for first-time users of the NASA INSPIRE Online Learning Community (OLC). It outlines the steps users must take to set up their profile and agree to the terms of use, including reading the rules and regulations, taking a quiz on them, and accepting the online user agreement. It then describes the main areas and resources available on the OLC homepage such as news, events, activities, and ways to connect with other users and NASA.

2. This is the Main Screen after logging in to the NASA INSPIRE Online Learning Community (OLC). You can see your profile and preferences to the left of the screen, a search bar to the right and in the center are the News and My Courses sections.

3. After logging in to the NASA INSPIRE OLC for the first time, you will need to read the Rules and Regulations for the OLC. Click on the Rules and Regulations PDFin the News section to view the file. This file is a PDF and can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader(a free download is available at http://get.adobe.com/reader/)

4. Read through the Rules and Regulations thoroughly. The file can be saved to your computer for future reference or you can view the file in the OLC.

5. Return to the Main Screen by selecting My Home located at the top left corner of your screen.

6. After reading the Rules and Regulations, you will need to accept the Online User Agreement Form. Click on the link to the Online User Agreement Form on the News section of the Home Screen.

7. The Online User Agreement Form indicates that you have read the Rules and Regulations for the NASA INSPIRE OLC and agree to abide by all rules and regulations governing the OLC.

8. Click the checkmarks next to each section to indicate that you have read and accepted the rules for that area.

9. After agreeing to each section, select Saveand then return to the Main Screen.

10. On the Main Screen, select the Rules and Regulations Quiz. This quiz, as well as the Online User Agreement Form, is a required part of continuation in the INSPIRE OLC.

11. When taking a quiz in the OLC, it is always important to read the instructions prior to beginning the quiz. Once you have read the instructions and are ready to begin, select Start Quiz.

12. If you are ready to start the quiz, select OK to continue.

13. Read each question and then select the correct answer by selecting the button for either true or false.

14. After completing all questions, make sure to select Save All Responses and then select Go To Submit Quiz

15. After submitting the Rules and Regulations Quiz, you are ready to begin your participation in the NASA INSPIRE Online Learning Community. Select INSPIRE Online Learning Community from the My Courses section on the Main Screen.

16. This is the HOME page for the INSPIRE OLC. On this page you will find a variety of resources from Breaking NASA News to the INSPIRE specific News and Updatesand much more.

17. In the top right corner of the screen, you will see two important links. The first, called My Home, will take you back to the Main Screen. The second, Course Home, will take you back to the INSPIRE OLC HOME page.Select either of these at any time to return to the Main Screen or HOME page.

18. Also located on the HOME page, each week will feature a new INSPIRE OLC Theme. Much of the content for that week will center around the INSPIRE Theme including various activities, chats, blogs and more.

19. Breaking News is an RSS news feed with breaking news from NASA. Selecting the Breaking News title will take you to the Newsfeed link.

20. The HOME page also has a list of Upcoming Events for that month. Some events will be NASA wide while others are specific to the INSPIRE Project.

21. In the center of the page are INSPIRE News and Updates. Refer to this section for the latest information about INSPIRE or for other new and interesting opportunities and information just for you. Links to other sites or additional information will appear red when you hover your mouse over them.

22. On the Menu bar, you will find links to sections of additional INSPIRE content

23. The DISCOVER area is where you will find everything you need to find, complete and submit INSPIRE Activities.

24. The Activity Highlights feature the three latest activities added for you to complete.

25. Below the Activity Highlights, you will find Activity Links which will be links to other areas that are needed to complete the activities including a link to see how many points you have earned so far. The Upcoming Themes list will inform you of the future themes planned for the coming month.

26. The CONNECT page will provide you with all the resources you need to connect with your peers and NASA. The INSPIRE Blog will feature blog entries by NASA employees while the LiveRoom Chats will let you know when the next chat is available to you.

27. Use the Discussion Board to talk with your peers about activities, chats, blogs and much more.

28. The EQUIP page contains resources and links to help prepare you for your future.

29. SHOWCASE will feature some of the work done by INSPIRE participants from both the OLC and the Summer STEM Experiences.Select a subject, center or STEM area to see a list of available projects for each section

30. The HELP page is where to go to get information needed if you run into any problems during your OLC participation.This page features Frequently Asked Questions, Additional Tutorials, Available downloads, copies of the Rules/Regulations, Links to technical support and contact information for the INSPIRE project.
