I. OBJECTIVES
MONDAY (Afternoon Session, Third Period)
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives,
necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be
done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment
strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find
significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content
Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of media and information literacy
(MIL) and MIL related concepts.
B. Performance
Standards
The learner organizes a creative and interactive symposium for the
community focusing on being a media and information literate individual.
C. Learning
Competencies
** The learner explains copyright, fair use, etc. vis-a-vis human
rights. [ MIL11/12LESI-IIIg20 ]
** The learner explains actions to promote ethical use of media and
information. [ MIL11/12LESI-IIIg22 ]
** The learner enumerates opportunities and challenges in media and
information. [ MIL11/12LESI-IIIg23 ]
Objectives
Discuss and analyze a specific case study related to legal, ethical, and
societal issues in the use of media and information literacy.
II. CONTENT
Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach. In the CG, the
content can be tackled in a week or two.
Legal, Ethical, and Societal Issues
in Media and Information (Lecture)
III. LEARNING
RESOURCES
List the materials to be used in different days. Varied sources of materials sustain children's interest in the lesson
and in learning. Ensure that there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials.
Hands-on learning promotes concept development.

IV. PROCEDURES
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well.
Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment
activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their
learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.

DAILY LESSON LOG
(S.Y. 2019 - 2020)
Acknowledge the milestones the internet
has shared to the humanity but stress on the
possible dangers and issues of using the
Internet.
LEARNERS’ SHARE:
The learners will cite the advantages of
Internet use. They will also mention some
of its disadvantages.
B. Establishing a purpose for
the lesson
Communicate Learning Objectives
1. State the objectives of the meeting.
Discuss the milestones the Internet has
helped humanity reach, but stress the
possible dangers of using the Internet.
2. Present the possible dangers of using the
Internet using the image below. Discuss
this under the lens of RA 10175:
Cybercrime Law.
C. Presenting examples /
instances of the new lesson Ask the learners the following
questions:
• What issues do you see in the poster?
• Which ones do you understand? Which
ones do you not know?
• What possible dangers and issues of
unguarded use of the internet are
depicted in the picture?
• Which of these issues have happened to
you or to your friends? Why did they
happen?
D. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills #1
DISCUSSION OF KEY CONCEPTS
COPYRIGHT - a legal device that gives
the creator of a literary, artistic, musical,
or other creative work the sole right to
publish and sell that work. Copyright
owners have the right to control the
reproduction of their work, including the
right to receive payment for that
reproduction. An author may grant or
sell those rights to others, including
publishers or recording companies.
Violation of a copyright is called
infringement.
PLAGIARISM - an act or instance of using
or closely imitating the language and
thoughts of another author without
authorization; the representation of that
author's work as one's own, as by not
crediting the original author.
The teacher shows examples and media
applications that will help the learners
understand more about copyright and
plagiarism.

E. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills #2
DISCUSSION OF KEY CONCEPTS
CYBER BULLYING - bullying that takes
place online, or using electronic
technology such as cell phones,
computers, and tablets over
communication tools including social
media sites, text messages, chat, and
websites. Examples of cyber bullying:
text messages or emails composed to
insult or demean; rumors or false
statements spread by email or posted on
social networking sites; and humiliating
photos, videos, websites, or fake profiles
deliberately shared across social media.
COMPUTER ADDICTION - the excessive
use of computers to the extent that it
interferes with daily life. This excessive
use may for example interfere with work
or sleep, result in problems with social
interaction, or affect mood,
relationships, and thought processes.
The teacher shows examples and media
applications that will help the learners
understand more about cyberbullying
and computer addiction.

F. Developing mastery
CASE STUDIES
Have the learners divide into 3 groups. Each group will randomly select an issue to
discuss. The groups will be given 20 minutes to do their task. Each group will take turns
in reporting and will be given 3 minutes to report. Suggested issues of using unguarded
internet:
• Copyright and Plagiarism
• Cyber Bullying
• Computer addiction
Present the mechanics to the learners:
• Each group chooses a case under your supervision. The task is to answer questions from
a given topic/case, and then present them to the class.
• Each group should elect the following: leader, secretary, and presenters.
• Time limit for discussion is 20 minutes while presentation is 2-3 minutes.
• During the discussion, the video assigned to the class will be played and the
questions will be flashed on screen. The reporter will then provide their answers to
the questions.
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3)
