5. Helpful Information
DOG AND CATE BITES
Animal quarantine is required if rabies
status is unknown.
High frequency of wound infection with
pasteurella and other oral pathogens.
Likely to require antibiotic treatment.

REPTILE AND BIRD BITES
Possible exposure to bacterial pathogens
that sometimes require antibiotic
treatment for deep wounds.

LARGE ANIMAL BITES (COWS/HORSES)
Animal quarantine is required if rabies
status is unknown.
Extent of medical care depends upon the
degree of tissue trauma.
