Fintel Industry Metrics Reports allows users to create customized benchmark reports across over 2000 industries, providing insights into client industries and investment targets. Users must access the service through the Barrington Area Library and can tailor reports based on various criteria, including location and company size. The final reports can be viewed in multiple formats, exported, or printed, with additional resources available for interpreting the data.

Reports! This resource will help you
create customized reports from over
2000 industries.
• Research information on a client’s
industry, receive knowledge about
investment targets, and gain insight
into financial management of industry
peers.

3. Creating a customized industry report

4. Go to balibrary.org and
click on “Databases.”

5. Click on “Business and Careers”
or scroll down to FINTEL
Industry Metrics.

6. Click on the
“FINTEL
Industry
Metrics” link. If
you are outside
of the library,
you will need
to enter a
Barrington
Area Library
card to
proceed.

7. Welcome to the FINTEL Industry Metrics
homepage! Listed is information about all of
the information you can get from this
database. When you are ready to create a
report, click on “build new report”.

8. Decide which type of benchmark analysis you would
like. Also note the “number of companies selected”
in top right corner. That number will reduce as you
add criteria to your report.

9. Select an industry by either typing in the industry
name or code or you can choose from the drop
down menu.

10. Please note that once you have chosen your industry,
you will need a minimum of 7 companies in order to
continue to build your report.

11. Select “Yes” or “No” if you would like to tailor your
report with additional criteria, such as location,
sales, number of employees, and age of firm for
your industry report.

12. If you decide to add more criteria to your report,
you will be able to fill in any or all of these fields.
Click on the orange check box to expand a
criterion.

13. Select whether or not you want to compare your
results to the industry at large. When you are
finished, click on the “ok” button.

14. This is an overview of your report. You can make
changes to criteria in the left column. To the right, you
can see the “Industry Risk Indicators” scale. When you
are ready to view the report in its entirety, click on the
“view” button in the top right corner.

15. This is your final report. You can adjust the report by
selecting different tabs at the top, showing the
statements in % or $, or viewing it in chart or graph
format. You can also export your report to a PDF or Excel
file or print it out.

the bottom left corner for detailed
information on interpreting your
report, frequently asked questions
about FINTEL reports, and a glossary
of terms.

17. The Barrington Area Library also has the
