FINDINGS - TEACHERS.docx
1. FINDINGS
Findings have been presented with the use of pseudonyms: 3 subject areas labeled as
A-S, with teachers from each subject specialists labeled as TEACHER Hence,
TEACHER A, TEACHER B, TEACHER C, TEACHER D, TEACHER E, TEACHER F,
represents teachers of English subject, while TEACHER G, TEACHER H, TEACHER I,
TEACHER J, TEACHER K, TEACHER L, represents the teachers of Mathematics
subject, TEACHER M, TEACHER N, TEACHER O, TEACHER P, TEACHER Q,
TEACHER R, TEACHER S, represents teachers of Science subject. Thematic analysis
was used to generate findings relating to the research questions.
Theme 1: Supplemental to the Personality Development of the Students.
Value integration is very important in the personality development of the students in
order to shape their future and tackle difficult situations with ease. The participants
expressed various opinions on the importance of Values integration to the personality
development of the students. Some participants specifically articulated:
“As a teacher, integration of Values education is necessary for the student’s
development and improvement not only in academics but also in their
personalities. When Values Education is integrated, it serves a big aspect for
both teacher and students to have smooth discussion because teachers had
already instilled values as part of the learner.” (TEACHER A)
Furthermore, another participant opined it’s importance in molding the children’s
character in order for them to perform their duties efficiently:
2. “It helps in overall character and personality development of our learner”
(TEACHER E)
Another participant agreed on it:
The integration of Values Education in teaching gives a wide range of
showing your students the importance of character in learning” (TEACHER
Q)
From the above findings, participants indicated that integrating values to different learning
areas are supplemental in the personality development of the students. In shaping the
students’ character, it is important to always touch their hearts in every discussion and
activities inside the classroom. Make sure that they will be instilled with values that will
strengthen their personality.
Theme 2: Values integration format in holistic development by addressing the
students’ emotional, social, and ethical needs.
The students must not only be instilled with the important facts but more so be moved by
touching their hearts. Holistic development is when the students see a personal meaning
in what the teachers teach in the classroom. Participants were asked how values
education are essential in the holistic development of the students. One of the participant
expressed:
“Kasi nga ang objective natin as a teacher ay holistic development , kapag sinabing
holistic development kasama doon ang Values so mahalaga alaga para ma-
achieved ‘yung kabuuang pagkatuto ng estudyante.” (TEACHER C)
3. Another participant added:
“ It is always integrated into other subjects because in my subject, the lesson of
the story "moral" should always integrate values and practical lessons.” She added
that.``It is always integrated to other subject because in my subject, the lesson of
th so ngayon, dapat mag paunawa paulit-ulit hindi magsasawa na mag paalala e
story" moral" should always integrate values and practical lesson.” (TEACHER D)
A holistic approach to education includes emphasizing a child's development in all areas,
rather than simply their academic development. It is very crucial to determine the child's
general welfare. Some participants declared:
“It is best to always indicate to our students the Values formation in their lives in
all areas of learning because nowadays, values are not evident in our
students and oftentimes neglected” She added that “New curriculum/ new
practice. It integrates in all subjects but sometimes being neglected. Every
subject even in mathematics integrate any forms of Values “Patience"
(TEACHER L)
“Integration of Values Education is important in my teaching to instill
discipline and good moral values to students”. (TEACHER P)
In addition to that, one participant said:
“Values education is very essential in teaching science because it requires
discipline to learn every aspect/Concept in science, especially during the
4. conduct of laboratory activities where discipline and other essential attitude is
necessary” (TEACHER N)
Another participant added:
“Particularly in my field of Science, Values is a Very crucial part of learning the
concepts knowing and how to "use it for the good of all people" is very
important.” (TEACHER M)
Aside from the key learning that was mentioned above, it is also important to meet the
students’ moral and ethical needs. And so, participant stated:
“Bukod sa academics, eh kailangan din ma-build natin yung moral values kasi
naniniwala naman ako na yun yung importante sa lahat.” (TEACHER S)
A comprehensive approach to learning called holistic development seeks to expand
several aspects or capacities of the human brain. According to the aforementioned
conclusions, fusing values with various academic subjects is a useful tool in helping pupils
develop wholly. We might think of holistic development as being able to accommodate a
child's requirements in terms of their academic, emotional, and moral and ethical growth.
Theme 3: Values integration as a teaching strategy.
Other teachers find a smart and effective way to catch the attention of their students. And
that includes integrating values in their subject matter. Participant stated:
“Values Education is a part of teaching strategy not just yung natural behavior of
students, it is part of teaching strategy. There are bright students ngunit kulang sila
5. sa Values. Kaya lang yung basic, very simple conduct of classroom kahit nga yung
Filipino culture na positive na we have the culture ay hindi alam ng bata” (
TEACHER F)
They said that the students engage more when the topic is relevant for them to share
their experiences. Another participant added:
“It is very important to integrate Values Education because it makes the topics in
my subject more interesting. It makes the students aware that values is
everywhere it also adds to essence of teaching” (TEACHER E)
And as the teacher catches the interests of the students, the teaching and learning
process will be at ease. One participant stated:
“Values education is important in my teaching because when values education is
integrated in teaching, it will help the learners to behave at all times. They exhibit
discipline not only in the classroom but inside the school premises” (TEACHER R)
Findings demonstrate that integrating values is not just a means of core development but
also a useful teaching method for increasing student participation in class discussions
and encouraging them to express their own personal experiences.
Theme 4: Preparing the students to act properly in real life situations.
School environment is different from the real world. One of the importance of values
integration is to prepare the students for the future. Some participants had this to say:
6. “Integrating Values education is significant in teaching mathematics as my subject
expertise can be abstract and disconnected from real-world applications so the
students will understand the relevance of math in everyday life. It also help student
to develop important social and emotional skills such as empathy, respect and
teamwork that are essential in l ife.Lastly, it can help promote ethical behavior and
responsible decision- making. As Philosopher mentioned, learning and
intelligences in important but what makes us human is our values” (TEACHER G)
One participant agreed on it and said:
“So that they could do/use it in their lives” (Teacher H)
“Integrating Values in teaching Mathematics is important because it will help
learners to understand the reason why they need to study the mathematical
concepts. It will also help them to realize that mathematics is not just about
numbers but it is about how they think and react to the situation. (TEACHER J)
The students on the 21st century needs proper guidance because they are easily being
destructed, and so the point of view of one of the participants:
“Kahit ayaw naming ma-touch yung personal na buhay hindi maiiwasan kasi iba
ditto (school) iba din sa bahay. Araw –araw naiintegrate ang Values. Syempre,
kahit grade-9 na sila may time pa rin na nakakalimot, lalo sa trend ngayon so dapat
hindi magsasawa, paulit- ulit mag-paalala.” (TEACHER I)
Another participant added:
7. “Important ang integration ng Values Education sa aking pagtuturo dahil
kailangang magkaroon ng pag-gabay sa lapwa at equal na karapatan lalo na sa
mga experiment activity” (TEACHER O)
21st century learners must possess 21st century skills for them to be able to perform well
in real life. One of the participant states:
“For my learners to become critical thinkers, be more analytical and observant”
(TEACHER K)
Our children's generation will be able to navigate the constantly evolving world while
upholding moral principles thanks to the integration of values. Teaching pupils how to
apply their knowledge to improve both themselves and society is the goal of values
integration.
