This document summarizes field testing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) comparisons of an oscillating hydrofoil prototype device. The field testing revealed differences between CFD simulations using an elliptical foil geometry and the actual biconvex foil geometry used. Additional CFD cases using the biconvex geometry and a stacked two-foil configuration produced results that better matched the field testing data, particularly showing steeper efficiency declines at higher frequencies. The results indicate that foil geometry and configuration influence the flow physics and efficiency trends of the prototype device.
