This study compared audiologic and quality of life outcomes for two transcutaneous bone-anchored hearing devices, the Sophono Alpha and Cochlear BAHA Attract. Twelve patients, including 10 children and 2 adults, were tested with pure-tone audiometry, speech discrimination scores, and a quality of life questionnaire. Both devices provided significant audiologic benefit compared to unaided hearing. There was no statistically significant difference between the devices in aided thresholds or speech discrimination scores. All patients reported that the devices improved their quality of life and said they would recommend them to others.
