The Texas Caddo East Texas Indian Tribes Hasinai (Tejas) Group occupied the area of present day Nacogdoches In fact the city of Nacogdoches was built over the largest of the old Hasinai villages Sedimentary Farmers   “ Texas” is derived from a Caddoan word meaning: Those who are friends
