PowerPoint Slide Guidelines
1 slide/minute (15 minutes)
Decide how many slides for each part of report/presentation:
◦ Introduction/Business Overview – 3
◦ Market Assessment – 4-5
◦ Operations Assessment – 4-5
◦ Financial Assessment – 3-4
◦ Feasibility Decision/Recommendations – 1-2
Presentation is a short highlight of your report
Include only what is vital, refer to report for remaining information

Fill space evenly
Avoid large white spaces or too much text
5 – 6 bullet points/slide
5 – 6 words/bullet point
Use double spacing to separate bullet points

Consider your client in regards to:
◦ Animation
◦ Design and font
◦ Color
◦ Pictures/visuals
Do they:
◦ Distract your client?
◦ Engage/bore your client?
◦ Help your client better comprehend the information?
◦ Confuse your client?
PowerPoint Slide Guidelines
Be consistent!
Font size should be 24+
Font style should be readable
Background color should not make text illegible
Avoid using graphs, tables, and charts that have too much information
Mock Presentations
SBTDC staff, Mr. Frederick, and class will attend and provide feedback
Ultimate purpose is more practice!
Speak to Mr. Frederick as if he is your client
Treat your mock presentation date as your final “due date”
Practice in advance
Less time is available for mock compared to final
Review “Mock Presentations” (Blackboard) for expectations and schedule
Final Meeting with Corbin
Must be scheduled AFTER your mock presentation and BEFORE your final
presentation
Email me today to schedule if you haven’t already!
All group members should attend
Review classmates’ and Mr. Frederick’s feedback before meeting
Paige will review SBTDC staff’s feedback during meeting
Final review of financial statements
Answer final questions
Final Presentations
Only client, SBTDC staff, and Mr. Frederick will attend
Members of other group from same client may attend
You should bring:
◦ Resources, assumptions, etc. to answer questions
◦ Hard copy (or copies) of report for client(s)
◦ Professional, bound
◦ Includes ALL information: report, financials, appendices, SBTDC reports, etc.
◦ Email e-copies of ALL information (including PPT slides) to me when finished

Professional dress!
Professional attitude! Look engaged, even when not speaking
Practice individually and as a group
Introduce yourselves in beginning and transition smoothly between
speakers
Bring notecards to avoid reading from slides
Final Presentation
Your language should be speaking TO client
Make eye contact
Be a consultant
Consider what the client already knows
Be confident! You know this better than any of us
Ask if client has questions

Make sure you are only discussing highlights of your report
◦ Business Overview: Introduction, purpose of study, basic industry
information
◦ Market Assessment: Target market, marketing strategies, products and
pricing, competitor analysis
◦ Operations Assessment: Location analysis, labor, hours and procedures
◦ Financial Assessment: Large startup expenses, financing, sales forecast,
COGS, important operating expenses, break even sales and unit levels
◦ Conclusion: Feasible or not feasible, why/why not, alternatives and
recommendations
