This document discusses implementing project-based learning and multimedia in elementary social studies curriculum. It presents project-based learning as a student-driven approach where students research a self-selected topic and create a final project. Multimedia such as digital storytelling can be integrated into project-based learning. The roles of teachers and students change in project-based learning - teachers facilitate student inquiry while students take responsibility for their own learning. The goal is for students to have a deeper understanding of topics through collaborative real-world projects.
