This document describes research on the design of a flight director to aid pilots in performing zero-gravity and partial-gravity flight maneuvers. A flight director display and control law were developed and tested in a flight simulator experiment. The simulator experiment found that the flight director improved accuracy and duration of the partial gravity maneuvers. A follow-up flight test in a Cessna Citation aircraft found similar improvements compared to historical data, though limitations of the real aircraft were also observed. Recommendations include further refinements to the flight director display design and additional study of transition criteria for ending the partial gravity maneuvers.
